Yep! There certainly was, two different proposed re-designs of the ground. With the Falcons out at Joondalup already, it would have been perfect, East Perth could have stayed at Perth Oval, and the Glory would have had a ground right near the freeway exit and a train station. If I can find the proposed ground design on my computer somewhere, I'll post it.

If glory moved to Leedy and EP stayed at Perth Oval, I wonder if Perth Oval could have become The premier stadium post subi

VICTORIA PARK ACES

The final expansion team saw the Victoria Park Aces born in 2008 - a name representing both the close proximity to the Perth Airport (flying aces), and the Burswood casino complex located within the city boundaries. The Aces play out of the suburban Lathlain Park, and entered the league in a striking black and orange striped design - which in the years following has gone from black to navy blue with the stripes being angled representing a plane taking off, in the same way the club aims to take off. The club represents not only Victoria Park, but the Belmont and Canning areas - Canning missing out on a standalone team to Victoria Park when the expansion was taking place, as Albany Highway runs through Victoria Park and into the City of Canning, thus the WAFC deemed that Victoria Park would represent the entirety of the south-east suburbs. Still without a premiership in their short history, the club has the likes of Charlie Cameron, Jake Waterman, Eric Mackenzie and Rhys Palmer on their playing list.

Colour scheme taken from the vic park juniors? I think they’re the raiders?

Not intentionally. Just love blue and orange as a colour scheme.

I love the home and clash design and would love to see a mock up in suns colours for a potential rebrand...
would you mind colour changing:

home (black to red, purple to yellow, white waves to sky blue)
clash (white to yellow, black to sky blue, blue waves to red).
(no need for heritage 3rd)

NGL, really don’t think that’s gonna make a decent Suns guernsey.

Suns really need to drop the blue, they’re currently Brisbane but in highlighter colours.

Own red and yellow whilst dropping the blue or completely rebrand using different colours.

GWS should look at one of these slanted hoops as a jumper.

Wonder if it works with charcoal instead of blue?

Or will GWS remove the charcoal and go navy?

Orange and white probably needs a number panel but the home strip works really well without the panel.

if staying red and yellow, inverse them and make yellow the predominate colour, you know, like the sun they are named after.

I wonder if the eagles would be willing to affiliate with them
I think the Eagles should consider either buying or affiliating with West Perth. even though I am a Swan Districts supporter, I don't want the Cardinals to fold. it would be a major loss to the Western Australian Footy Landscape.:'(

To be honest this could just be solved with a name change to Joondalup. Right now it looks like the simplest thing we can do to get back sponsorship, despite the fact it's been down voted three times already in the past. I'm personally not a fan but if it has to be done to get things back on track, I'm all for it.

I really don't want my club aligned with the Eagles though.

GERALDTON ROVERS

Entering the league in 2006, the Geraldton Rovers are the epitome of a country footy club. Formed after support and backing from a number of clubs in the Mid-West and North regions of WA, the club formed out of Wonthella Oval in Geraldton and so were born the Rovers, due to their travel requirements and land covered across the state. This is also why the club chose to use a kangaroo as their mascot, the true "rovers" of the Western Australia. You can't have a country footy club without a country footy guernsey, and Geraldton do not disappoint with a green and gold chevron ensemble - which they have worn in variations since their inception into the league. Unfortunately still without a premiership, the club does however boast some quality local players including the three-time Bernie Naylor Medal winning Josh Kennedy, Patrick Cripps, Dom Sheed and Northern Territory export, Willie Rioli.
Was the "G" that you used for the Heritage the same font as the old West Coast text on their old jumpers as a nod to the Eagles or was it not meant as a nod to the Eagles?

I used Dynamo full well knowing it's the "Eagles font", and I suppose to an extent yes, but really I think Dynamo is a great old-school footy font and it just kinda worked.

Freight Train great thread, not sure if I've asked this, but would you consider doing an extension of this for the WAAFL?

With the WAFL reserves Grand Final not being played on the traditional Grand Final day, after the colts and before the league, you could tie in this real life factoid with the fictional one here.

Idea being (something like) each WAFL zone has 2-3 amateur clubs. They get first dibs on promoting those players to the WAFL list. WAFL players who aren't selected for their league sides go back down and either play for an affiliated team or return to their original one.

You could play around with all the old leagues and their names. I always thought 'The Sunday Football League' was such a cool title, and you could do a WAFL Saturdays/SFL Sundays thing with it too. 'Mercantile Football League' a classic old name too. Not putting words in your mouth, ideas in your head, or designs up wherever but just a thought because I did enjoy this (as much as I disagree with some teams' theoretical states).

WAFL 2019

What if the VFL never became the national competition?
What if the Eagles and the Dockers never existed?
What if thousands of local fans week in, week out packed out their local suburban footy ovals?

The year is 2019. The WAFL is the hottest ticket in town, with twelve teams competing in the league. Following the finals, the best local-born players represent their state at the annual State of Origin competition, which will be held in WA in 2019 - at the brand new Optus Stadium in Burswood, which is also now the home of the WAFL Grand Final. The WAFC is the controlling body of the competition, and this is the year the club has decided to enter their image into the 21st century - new league logo, new club logos and new apparel supplier, Puma, for the upcoming season.

In this portfolio, I'll be presenting a logo and guernsey set for each of the twelve WAFL clubs, as well as looking into the recent backstory of each club.

Welcome to the West.

Note: The logos in this portfolio will simply be ones taken from vector resource websites, or existing club logos. The focus on this portfolio is the guernseys, so I honestly can't be assed with designing entirely new logos.

Just saw this logo which is eerily similar to your WAFL logo. I wonder if they took inspiration...

Highly doubt it. It’s a pretty standard way of doing a W, a number of fonts have the double V style W.

A quick Google search of “W logo” will bring up very similar logos.
