East Fremantle won pretty easily in the end. They pulled away in the third quarter when the game was on the line and were never headed after.

East Fremantle 18.14 (122) defeated Peel Thunder 9.13 (67)

Free entry for the colts GF I presume?

There were quite a few draftees who participated in last year's colts grand final:

A.Black, Colyer, Fyfe, Weedon, Neates, Winmar, Broome

I haven't been following the colts much this year, but doesn't seem like there are as many strong draft prospects playing in this year's?

Justin Monaco is the only one that stands out to me from what I saw in the U18 Championships and the only one that appears to have been invited to the national draft combine.

Schofield, Lawrence, Johannisen, McKenna, Hancock, Butcher, Chalwell, Menengola were all invited to the state combine.

Maybe a few for the coming years - Peel have a young squad of 30 listed with 10x '93 birthdates and 3x '94 birthdates (East Freo have 4x '93 birthdates).

Also...

WAFL Colts Team of the Year (p21 of the WAFL GF Record)

Litherland and Conca are probably the only two that are 'definites' (both invited to the national combine and both had good U18 Championships - Conca was also good in his games at WAFL League level).

Anyone else in there that others rate a good chance to be drafted?

Is Tom Hooker the younger brother of Cale?

Good, tight game of footy in the first half today and then, for an inexplicable reason, Peel unravelled in about 5 minutes early in the third? 17, Kelvin Lawrence, who had been having a good day, decided to get in a box on with the Sharks player, who just kept barrelling at him and then Lawrence let a series of left jabs loose and it was on. 50m resulting in a goal and it was a 9 point margin, I think. Then some further retaliation came and another goal or 2 to the Sharks and the Thunder had lost their way. It was one of the most bizarre things I have witnessed. Then the Sharks were smelling blood in the water and circling in a ravenous pack and just started running and running and running some more.

Not sure who judges on the Whinnen Medal but I thought Henson, Hancock, Boyle and Menegola were sensational when the chips were down. Peletier was outstanding in defence when Peel were really throwing everything at them and Chalwell in the ruck. For Peel they were in the game mainly due to O'Driscoll, McFarlane and Lawrence, IMHO in the first half. All went quiet, or off the boil in the third and the damage was done. They were all in the thick of it in the last when trying to restore some pride though.:thumbsu:

Two GF losses in a row. Won't sit right with the club as the colts carry the club's success and good reputation.

Only 5 players participated in both grand finals. Sure, the second half wasn't great, but whilst the 2009 loss was disappointing I would have said the effort to make the grand final in 2010 made the club pretty happy?

Not winning a colts game for the entire 2007 season wouldn't have sat 'right' with the club. Going down in a game to a much older and bigger East Fremantle side wouldn't have left too much of a bad taste I wouldn't have thought.

Peel regions, Waroona, Kwinana etc.

Kwinana is still part of South's zone - hence Ben Newton playing at SF.
