Wish they would hurry up and put the game on ABC iview, looked like a cracker WAFL defs alive and well. you would think if we geta granny without claremont or subi in it in the next couple of years the crowd would be 30k +. I would say the WAFl is the best comp to watch in Aus, the SANFL has unfortunaltly become very predictable with centrals walking into a 11th straight granny, there is a lot to be said for an even comp.

Great game. Had $5 on the Black Ducks when they were paying $4 for the win, so that's a bonus.
Drove past Steel Blue last night at about 11:30pm and they were still going strong.
Rang up the club today for some work stuff and got told that nearly everyone's been given the day off, haha.

Im so glad i went to the game. Was one of the greatest GFs of all time and one of the greatest individual performances in a GF of all time. AK was simply brilliant.
RE: Claremonts low fan base.
Yeah that's a problem for the Monts no doubt. Claremont is a small area, though you can kind of include Swanbourne, Cottesloe and some of Nedlands, Scarborough, North Beach, and Mosman park as a place where our fans live/come from. Not a huge population and most of it aging.
Then there's the fact that the western suburbs has become increasingly gentrified over the years, not so many working class people around any more, people like me, who actually go to the footy, or even like footy.
Paradoxically, it's still a strong zone as far as recruitment is concerned, there's a few strong lower level and junior clubs in our zone not to mention private schools which have been a source of many a good player for the Tigers.
Recently we seem to have our act together as far as sponsorship goes too. But in the end, we just don't have enough supporters and I for one am at a loss as to where any new ones would be coming from.
There was talk about ten years ago of a possible merger with Subi....god forbid.

Just like to say Thanks to Swannies for all the write ups through the season they were great, hopefully he takes the reins again in 2011. Congratulations Swans.

Congrats to Swan Districts for a very well played grand final. Unfortunately it was not meant to be for Claremont this year, and with the potential raid of the teams list by AFL clubs we may take another year or 2 before we get another chance. Hopefully when we do get another chance we take it. Congrats again to Swan Districts and to all your very loyal supporters.
