That would have to be due to his past injuries and not wanting to extend him too soon, wouldn't it?

Not too sure but I think he meant giving the ball to Swift more often instead of being selfish hacks.

how pacey is swift? i've seen him on tv a couple of times and i wouldnt really say his speed and accerlation are blistering.

would he be one to help out our one-paced midfield?

fair enough, i regarded him as more of a smooth mover. sort've like nick dal santo.

What is his pace like - we looked to lack pace and quickness last night.
His pace is pretty good but he is lacking in quickness.

Imagine if we had a designated WAFL team for our players like in Victoria:eek: Sounds like pretty much all our WAFL dwellers are doing ok:thumbsu:

I'd rate his pace as above average, I don't expect him to take many players on in the AFL so early in his career. If he does come in I think we'll see the type of game we saw from him against Collingwood in the pre-season (drawing players, setting it up, link man).

Pace is definitely above average. I find him quite quick actually.. has good burst speed with the ball.

He's a bit further ahead than at the start of the year. More polished (if that's the right word) and has confidence so I think he'll tear them to shreds!! :D

Watched a little of the Subi game and the thing that I noticed with Ash Smith he was pin point accurate with his kicking.
He wasn't that prominant in getting the ball but was very good at finding open space in Subi's defence and using his penetrating kick to clear the midfield zone with a 50+ metre kick and every time he either hit the chest of a team mate or kicked it into space for his team mates to run on to it.

The thing he doesn't do real well is read the play and his defencive pressure was below standard, He doesn't attempt to tackle that much insted he tries to corral players into macking mistakes and against Subi he was out classed as most of the time he was against D.Chicky and he wasn't going to be rushed into anything.
Once he starts getting more of the ball, starts running games out a bit better and works on his tackleing it wont be too long before we see him in a WCE jersey.

stats have come in:

Houlihan: 25 touches 7 marks and 2.1 goals
Spangher: 19 touches 4 marks
Naitanui: 14 touches 2 marks 31 hitouts
Hansen: 16 kicks 12 marks 4.3 goals
Notte: 9 Touches 3 goals
Ebert: 19 touches 4 marks
J.Jones: 11 touches 2 marks
Arrowsmith: 15 touches 4 marks
Wilson: 17 touches 8 marks 2.2 goals
Swift: 28 touches 2marks
Bedford: 2 touches
McGinnity: 21 touches 3marks
Fletcher: 38 touches
Stenglein: 27 touches
Sullivan: 15 touches 1 goal
Where's Ash Smiths Stats ??

I am keen for more information on Notte - am I reading from you guys that with 5kg more he will make a big AFL impact next season? Perhaps 3-5 games this year on the flank? What is his pace like - we looked to lack pace and quickness last night.

Apparently he is lazy training wise. Not that he doesn't play or train hard on the track but away from there...apparently he is never to be seen in the gym.

Also after Nahas effort today and Bedfords efforts so far in the WAFL this season its becoming clear we have MASSIVELY ****ed up :(.

What would you rather, a rookie stuff up or a league pick that bottoms out?

Is Bedford a Nephew of 1 of our recruiters or something???
I Never thought he was that good in the first place and we rated him above Cockie, So I think he must be related to someone in the Club to get a spot on our rookie list.

I would have preferred so many others insted of Him.
Clancee Pearce
Luke Sheahan
Sam Hughes
Lewis Jetta
Jeff Garlett
Liam Picken
Matt DeBoer
Casey Sibosado
Johny Bennell
Steven Gaertner
Luke Stanton
And More........Just to name a few so why did our recruiters rate him so highley???? I have NFI why.

Lol.

Might have something to do with the fact he was on the best list in the AFL and was very impressive in Geelongs two's for the most part of 2008.

But hey, fire away at the one perceived error of the club, despite some good performance's by Liam.

Thats what I'm looking forward too.

Houlihan or Swift will be getting Rosa's wing shortly.

Davis should get Nicoski's place in defence.

Schofield to take Bones spot on the HBF.

That's how I want our side to look by seasons end.

Although Houlihan gets good stats in the WAFL he is not a natural footballer and is still quiet skinny.
Schofield I agree should be next into the back line for either nicko or bones.

Ebert will be close to being recalled, though its hard to see who would miss out especially if Kerr and hunter are fit.

What I would like to see is notte at HF possibly replace Mckinley and play Masten, Mcnamara, kerr as resting mid in the forward pocket some time this year.

Just on these points, Swift much like Masten has always been an inside mid - an elite ball winner who can then break from congestion. Why, like Masten in a forward pocket, would we waste him on a wing?

Davis has been dropped for 2 primary reasons, he makes poor decisions and has eratic disposal skills. He is however quick. So you want to replace Nico with a player who runs fast but then sprays the ball and makes bad decisions? How is that an improvement?

Not suggesting for a second that Nico & Rosa shouldnt be worrying about their spots, just not sure that your mooted replacements are the right ones.

That's not lazy.

Do you know the exact training regime he is on? I'd suggest they would be managing him very closely as packing on quick bulk is not desired. It needs to be a slow, gradual process considering he was so light.

Still.... Notte should be alot bigger then he is given the time hes had at the club. Time for twig to become man and soon

Bedford has a serious ankle injury according to the West so he won't be impressing anyone for a few weeks yet you'd think.

I was going to say "this explains his low stats" but.... :p
