A fair point. :D

One does wonder whether Hansen being a WAFL level is hurting Notte's development.

I think swannies has been saying that for a while.

Notte never gets the opportunity because Hansen is always the forward chosen.

Smith has pretty good disposal, just needs to get more of it to be damaging.

How good is Swallow!!!

16 years old.... looks like he has been playing at this level for years...

Yep, big talent there. All but going to the Gold Coast :(

Smith has been pretty good. Sometimes look a bit casual but gee.. he certainly has the ability.

A few Eagles in the Peel vs Claremont game

Beau Wilkes got 25 possessions 13 marks and 5 goals 4 playing as a CHF:D. Hansens getting a game ahead of him why Woosh?

Stevenson got 18 possessions and a game high 7 tackles

Jordan Jones got 12 possessions and probably got towelled up like the whole Peel defence I think

Schofield didnt play

Arrowsmith 11 possessions 2 goals. Not doing enough

Beau Wilkes kicked 5.4 .... although Chad Jones kicked 6.... so....

Zac Beeck is credited with 50 hitouts  Must be a world record!

96 hitouts between the 2 teams. That cant be right. Thats a ball up a minute.

You want some sort of crab-a-thon Embers?

Wilkes played a dozen games last year and all pre-season and looked a good WAFL player without the size (and for the slower ones that doesnt just mean height) or athleticism to be anything other than a bit part player at AFL level. We need talent, not more try hard plodders....

Note: I am not saying Hansen is any sort of answer either.

Wilkes has more chance of making it than Wilson, Hansen do atm and if we are gonna go with another forward surely hes first cjoice

He played 11 games last season and he was quite good given how much the ball came flying into defence. Anyway how many of those 11 games were as a CHF. Thats where he played his junior footy. Its where he was drafted to play and thats where hes dominating now. Deserves a AFL call up in that position before we ship him off surely....

I look at AFL listed competent long term CHF's and then I look at Wilkes ... and , just no.....

I also disagree with you that he was quite good. He was Trent Carroll like ... he tried hard and a few times each game looked silly ....

He is a good WAFL player without the attributes to play at the next level. It may well be true that he is better than Wilson but so what? If Wilson isnt up to it then he shouldnt play either ....

God I hope Smith gets his shit into gear.

I want to see that gorgeous kick on one side of the field, while Hurn is banging 'em down the other.

Swans v WP

BFE (Big Forgotten Eagle) - BOG for the Falcons, dominated the ruck and took a sensational pack mark in the dying seconds to level the scores up for the hated enemy. Forgot how good his marking is, bastard!

Davis - worked very hard for 4 quarters, loves it in tight and tough, played mainly defense in the first half and did a fair shutdown job on the Falcons forwards. Attacks the ball aggressively, love it. Disposal was generally good and his run from defense was good. Moved on to the ball in the second half, which is where I really like him, kept chasing, tackling, bumping. Caused the turnover, from a short kickin, that put the Swans in front.

Notte - E87, there is no wondering that Hansen in the side might stifle Notte's development, it DOES. So much so that today the team generally didn't look for him, instead choosing to pass to a 175-180cm leading forward instead of the hulking monster that is Notte. Daws had to remind them at both quarter time addresses I went to, to look for Notte. Having said that he took 4-5 fantastic contested marks, lead to space really well and was generally out on his feet by the end of the game, sohis work was there. Needs to work more on his endurance but that'll come.

Is there any footage available of Smith? I was at work..

Not much to see. Kicked the ball lovley sometimes, screwed up three handpasses that where not to advantage. Showed some dash.

Can clearly see his skinfolds are high and needs a mountain of endurance work, otherwise he has the tools to become a good player for us. Does not currently get allot of the pill but does not struggle, would again benifit from a better tank.

Yeah, Smith did look to be packing a few extra kilos.

He did look a bit lazy at times, hopefully after this pre-season his game will have changed.

Yeah I was aware of this from seeing his first game earlier in the year. He barely did anything and spent most of the game walking, so I was keen to actually see some highlights from him.
