Round 11 didn't produce too many close games but it had some interesting results nonetheless. Three seemed to be a pretty common number this week amongst the tipping group although there were a few scores of four in there too. The bonus point this week was shared between Freezin and Magnum27 who both selected West Coast Eagles by 15 points which was the closest to the Eagles' winning margin of 72 points.

No change to the leaderboard this week with Miguel Sanchez and samFFC still leading the way on 37 points, Monocle sits on 36 points in third, Freofalcon remains fourth on 35 points with gaskin and myself in a tie for fifth place on 34 points.

Round 12 Fixtures

South Fremantle vs West Coast Eagles at Fremantle Community Bank Oval (1:15pm)
West Perth vs Subiaco at HBF Arena (2:15pm, margin)
Peel Thunder vs Swan Districts at David Grays Arena (2:15pm)
East Perth vs Perth at Leederville Oval (2:15pm)
East Fremantle vs Claremont at New Choice Homes Park (2:15pm)

Round 12 is here with all five games to take place on Saturday afternoon. First up is the early game between South Fremantle and West Coast Eagles at Fremantle Community Bank Oval. South Fremantle came up short against Subiaco last week in rather wet conditions but can take solace in the fact they have a second straight home game this week. The Bulldogs face an Eagles' outfit who were far too good for East Fremantle on the weekend but will come into the game having to make a few changes with some players in contention to play in the senior team on the weekend. Peel Thunder head home to host Swan Districts at David Grays Arena in Mandurah. The Thunder were very good against Perth and nabbed a good win away from home which saw them break a four game losing streak. Swan Districts find themselves on the bottom of the ladder having suffered a comprehensive defeat to West Perth in yet another loss at home. This is a big game for Swans as they need a win to stay in touch with the top five so they'll need to come out firing early.

Next up sees East Perth hosting Perth at Leederville Oval. Both sides had bad losses in the previous round with neither side able to kick more than six goals in what was some tough conditions at times thanks to persistent rain. The Royals head into the game needing a win to keep up with the top five while Perth have endured a tough few weeks and will be looking for a win to cement their top five spot. The final game of the round features East Fremantle taking on Claremont at New Choice Homes Park which is the Sharks' second consecutive match at home. Old Easts had a bit of a shocker in Round 11, coming up against an Eagles outfit that had Nic Naitanui and Tom Barrass returning from injury. The Sharks would have fancied their chances against the Eagles but were well and truly outplayed and now face a Claremont team who have quietly gone about their business in 2019 and now find themselves outright third with seven wins and on a three match winning streak.

Unfortunately there is no TV game this week so I've selected the West Perth vs Subiaco fixture as the margin game this weekend in what is the Match of the Round at HBF Arena. West Perth started 2019 poorly but have had a fairly impressive past couple of months and now find themselves in fourth position having won five of their last six games. The Falcons find themselves hosting Subiaco who accounted for South Fremantle last week, avenging their loss to the Bulldogs earlier in the season. This match is sure to be a good one as two top five sides duke it out up at Joondalup.

There's not much movement in the other grades this week with the Colts and Reserves matches to begin at 9am and 11:30am respectively with the exception of the East Perth vs Perth fixtures. The Royals vs Demons Colts' match gets underway at 8:50am with the Reserves to follow at 11:20am.

The weather this weekend is looking better than what it did on the previous one. Saturday is forecast to have a shower or two with an expected maximum of 18 degrees predicted at this stage. Any shower activity is predicted to be in the afternoon and evening with 1-2mm expected.

Well after a weekend which didn't produce many close results, let's hope Round 12 will make up for it with some good, hard fought contests. There's some promising games this round so hopefully we will see a few tight games this weekend and that the weather stays away until the evening. Happy tipping!!

Round 12 produced some interesting contests that helped make tipping a bit of a challenge over the weekend. South Fremantle's loss to West Coast Eagles was a result few predicted while the best game of the round was East Fremantle's match against Claremont which was a tight game all day with the Tigers getting home in a close one. Tipping wise, most tipsters either got three or four this week while the bonus point went to Freofalcon who correctly selected Subiaco's winning margin of 22 points over West Perth.

After 12 rounds there has been some change at the top, Miguel Sanchez is now the outright leader on 41 points with samFFC and Monocle now sharing second place on 40 points. In a tie for fourth place we have Freofalcon and myself on 38 points while gaskin is now outright fifth with a tally of 37 points.

Round 13 Fixtures (NAIDOC Round)

Peel Thunder vs West Coast Eagles at David Grays Arena (12:10pm)
Claremont vs South Fremantle at Claremont Oval (2:10pm, margin)
West Perth vs Perth at HBF Arena (2:15pm)
Swan Districts vs East Perth at Steel Blue Oval (2:15pm)
Subiaco vs East Fremantle at Leederville Oval (2:15pm)

Round 13 is on the horizon with all five games on Saturday afternoon. This round also doubles as NAIDOC round with all clubs to be wearing specially designed jumpers for this week's matches and you can check them out on the WAFL's social media pages, they look pretty good.

The first match this week is the early game between Peel Thunder and West Coast Eagles at David Grays Arena in Mandurah. The Thunder had a strong win over Swan Districts in Round 12 and have a chance to solidify their top five spot as they host the Eagles who also had an impressive win last time out, upsetting the second placed Bulldogs. It's a crunch match for either club as they look to push their way up the ladder in the second half of the season with the race for the finals heating up. West Perth have a second successive home game this week and host Perth at HBF Arena in Joondalup. The Falcons managed to stay with Subiaco for most of their match last week but the Lions proved too strong when it mattered and the Falcons will be hoping to bounce back to potentially regain their spot in the top five. Perth had a good win on the weekend after getting the job done against East Perth and a win for them will keep their hopes for a double chance in the finals in tact.

Swan Districts host East Perth at Steel Blue Oval with both clubs occupying the bottom two spots on the ladder. This match is surely the last chance for Swans as they must win this and keep winning if they are any chance to play finals. East Perth have had some bright spots at times but haven't had the season they would have liked for the most part and they too must win here to stay in the finals race. The final game of Round 13 sees Subiaco taking on East Fremantle at Leederville Oval. The Lions had a win over West Perth last week but will be weary of the Sharks who have played some good footy at times in 2019 so they'll need to be prepared to take on an improved Sharks' side. East Fremantle sit eighth at the moment and must win to keep in touch with clubs hovering around the top five as a loss could leave them three games outside of the five come the end of the round.

The TV game is back this week with the telecast fixture taking place between Claremont and South Fremantle at Claremont Oval in what is easily the Match of the Round. Both clubs sit in second and third place on the ladder with the game shaping as a big one with both sides looking to further strengthen their hold on the double chance. Claremont head into the game in good form having won their last four games and will be looking to make it five to keep hold onto second place on the ladder. The Bulldogs meanwhile have lost their last two games and have dropped to third place having sat in second spot for most of the season so far. The match telecast gets underway at 2pm with bouncedown scheduled for 2:10pm. The game leads into an earlier edition of Seven News with the Western Derby telecast to follow afterwards.

There's a fair bit of movement in the other grades this week. In the Colts, we have three matches on Saturday with Claremont vs South Fremantle to start at 8:45am, Subiaco vs East Fremantle beginning at 9am while Swan Districts tackle East Perth at 2:45pm in Bunbury. On Sunday, West Perth host Perth at 1pm. The Reserves has all four games on Saturday with Swan Districts vs East Perth to begin at 9:25am while the Claremont vs East Fremantle fixture has bouncedown scheduled for 11:15am. The remaining two matches featuring Subiaco vs East Fremantle and West Perth vs Perth will start at the usual time of 11:30am.

The weather this weekend is looking okay with the forecast for Saturday predicting a possible shower and a maximum of 17 degrees at the moment, similar to Saturday of the weekend just gone.

A big round awaits with a few interesting match-ups set to make or break a few seasons on Saturday afternoon. Hopefully the rain stays away and we can see some close games over the course of the weekend. Happy tipping!!
