Just the two games for Round 15 but neither of them disappointed with both matches proving to be pretty good fixtures, particularly the Perth derby which had little separating the sides all day. Most tipsters scored one this week although there were a few scores of two scattered amongst the tipping group. The bonus point this week was shared with both hansie and swannies selecting a margin that was four points away from West Perth's winning margin of six points.

With 15 rounds complete, Miguel Sanchez remains in the lead on 49 points while Freofalcon and Monocle remain in a tie for second place on 46 points. Outright fourth place is now occupied by gaskin on 45 points and there's now a four-way tie on 44 points for equal fifth position.

Round 16 Fixtures

Subiaco vs West Coast Eagles at Leederville Oval (11:40am, margin)
South Fremantle vs Swan Districts at Fremantle Community Bank Oval (2:15pm)
Claremont vs Perth at Claremont Oval (2:15pm)
Bye: East Fremantle, East Perth, Peel Thunder, West Perth

Round 16 is up next and is the second part of the second group of bye rounds with three games this weekend, all on Saturday. South Fremantle host Swan Districts in the first of two afternoon games with both sides going into the game on losing streaks. South Fremantle have lost their last four games while Swans have lost their last six matches. Both sides will be desperate for a win with South Fremantle needing victory to keep its hopes of a home qualifying final in tact while Swans must win to help their cause of avoiding the wooden spoon. Expect both clubs to have a red hot crack and this match could be a bit closer than what people think. The second afternoon game has Claremont hosting Perth at Claremont Oval. The Tigers have had an excellent season so far and find themselves in second place with nine wins and victory on the weekend will consolidate their spot and leave them well placed to host a home qualifying final. Perth's last game saw them claim a win against South Fremantle thanks to a goal after the siren as they inch ever closer to a finals spot. The Demons sit fourth and possess a handy buffer on sixth placed Peel Thunder so a win against the Tigers would push the Demons onto nine wins and within touching distance of a finals berth.

The TV game this week has Subiaco taking on West Coast Eagles at Leederville Oval in a late morning fixture. Subiaco held off Claremont in their match before the bye to cement their hold on top spot and they face a surging Eagles' outfit who have won their last four games with their most recent encounter a 69 point belting of West Perth. This match is a big one for the Eagles with a win putting them back inside the top five after having the bye last week and would help them in their quest to reach the finals in their first season in the WAFL, coupled with a favourable draw to finish the season. The telecast of this match begins at 11:30am with bouncedown scheduled for 11:40am with the match leading into Channel Seven's AFL coverage in the afternoon and is part of close to nine hours of football coverage for the day with the evening game showing on 7mate.

In the Colts this week, South Fremantle will play Perth on Saturday morning at 9am. The Colts' match between Claremont and Perth was played on Saturday in Albany as a twilight game, the Tigers won by 65 points after keeping the Demons to just 0.4 (4) for the match. The Reserves' games for each fixture are at their usual times of 11:30am respectively.

The weather this week is looking more promising with Saturday predicted to be partly cloudy at this stage with a maximum of 19 degrees. There might be a slight chance of a shower but hopefully they will stay away during the day.

Well the last of the bye rounds is here with some big games set to take place this week. Finals spots and finals chances go on the line and each club will be looking to assert themselves as we get to the pointy end of the season. With the weather looking reasonable, hopefully we can see some great WAFL footy and some close matches on Saturday. Happy tipping!!

Round 16 was fairly straightforward for the tipping group this week with the vast majority of tipsters selecting three winners from the three games that were played. Kram picked up the bonus point this week being closest to the margin to finish with a total of four points for the round.

After 16 rounds, Miguel Sanchez remains in the lead on 52 points with Freofalcon and Monocle tied for second place on 49 points. After scoring four points, Kram has joined gaskin to be tied for equal fourth place on 48 points.

Round 17 Fixtures

Perth vs Subiaco at Mineral Resources Park (Thursday 7:10pm, margin)
West Perth vs East Fremantle at Joondalup Arena (Saturday, 2:15pm)
Swan Districts vs West Coast Eagles at Steel Blue Oval (Saturday, 2:15pm)
East Perth vs South Fremantle at Leederville Oval (Saturday, 2:15pm)
Peel Thunder vs Claremont at David Grays Arena (Saturday, 2:15pm)

Round 17 has arrived and its back to a full list of fixtures this week with five matches set to take place for the round. West Perth play their fourth consecutive home game on Saturday at Joondalup Arena having reverted back to its usual name as they play host to East Fremantle. The Falcons sit at 7-7 and find themselves back inside the top five thanks to a tight win over East Perth a couple of weeks ago in what turned out to be one of the best games of the season and they take on an East Fremantle outfit who are now playing for pride in season 2019. After having been let go by West Perth at the end of 2018, new Sharks' coach Bill Monaghan will have plenty to prove and he'll be looking to spoil his old side's run to the finals as we head towards the back end of the season. At Steel Blue Oval, Swan Districts will battle West Coast Eagles with both teams coming off big losses in the previous round. Swans have not had a great season and suffered an 85 point defeat to South Fremantle last weekend after kicking only two goals for the match. They face an Eagles' outfit which also had a big loss against Subiaco and have to rebound to keep their chances of a finals appearance in tact having sat inside the top five a couple of weeks ago.

East Perth play South Fremantle at Leederville Oval in an intriguing Saturday afternoon fixture. The Royals have been better than most expected in 2019 and with a bit of luck could have claimed an important win over arch rival West Perth in their match before the bye but they enter this game with some confidence having taken it up to most sides so far this season. South Fremantle rebounded last week against Swan Districts, picking up some percentage and keeping the pressure on Claremont in the fight for second place on the ladder. Expect this game to be a close contest with the Royals looking to edge closer to the top five while the Bulldogs can further consolidate their position in the top three with victory. The final fixture for the weekend sees Claremont travelling down to Mandurah to lock horns with Peel Thunder at David Grays Arena. The Thunder's win in Round 15 over the Sharks kept them within a game of fifth placed West Perth and the Thunder could push back into the top five with a win and if other results fall their way. Claremont have impressed during season 2019 and victory for them keeps them in a good spot for a home qualifying final come the end of the season.

The TV game this week isn't on Saturday, it's actually this Thursday Night with Perth to host Subiaco in prime time with a night match at Mineral Resources Park. Perth impressed in the first half of their match against Claremont last week but as has been the case at times this season, the third quarter proved to be their achilles' heel with Claremont hitting back to eventually hit the front and win a close contest by seven points. The Demons find themselves close to securing a finals berth and will be desperate to reach the finals having not played in a finals fixture for some time. Subiaco meanwhile are fresh off their big win against West Coast Eagles and will be keen to upset Perth's first game under lights at the newly redeveloped Mineral Resources Park. The match telecast gets underway at 7pm on 7mate with bouncedown set for 7:10pm.

There's not too movement in the other grades this week with the Colts and Reserves matches scheduled to begin at 9am and 11:30am respectively with the exception of the Perth vs Subiaco fixture which sees the Colts get a sleep in with a 10:30am start while the Reserves get underway at 1pm.

The weather this week isn't looking too great with showers developing, mostly likely in the afternoon and evening on Saturday and a maximum of 21 degrees expected. Four to 10 mm of rain is predicted at this stage for the day with a chance of a thunderstorm too.

Good to see five games back this week with just four rounds left of the season. There's a couple of big games for the round with teams fighting it out to stay in finals contention, others looking to strengthen their position while a few clubs will be hoping to play spoiler this week. Hopefully the rain keeps away until late in the day and we can see some great footy on the weekend. Happy tipping!!
