Round 22 proved to be pretty easy tipping wise with all four favourites winning their matches which left just about everyone scoring four points for the round. The bonus point this week was claimed by getgaff who was spot on with his margin of 22 points which was Claremont's winning margin at the final siren.

With Round 22 completed, that brings us to the end of the 2021 BigFooty WAFL Tipping Competition and our winner this year is getgaff. For most of the season, getgaff has spent a good portion of the year inside the top five managing to grab an equal share of the lead in Round 12, then again in Round 15 before taking the outright lead in Round 17 and did not relinquish the lead from there to finish with a total of 72 points including claiming the bonus point in the last round as the cherry on top. Congratulations to getgaff on winning the 2021 BigFooty WAFL Tipping Competition and as this year's winner, getgaff receives a one year Platinum subscription to BigFooty. All this thanks to Chief and the team here at BigFooty.

In second place is samFFC with 70 points, samFFC has also had a very good tipping season, charging home late in the final few rounds and has claimed a very creditable second position, well done. In third place is Falconista who has spent the majority of the season inside the top three with some great tipping and comes home third with a total of 68 points, well done also.

Well that concludes the BigFooty WAFL Tipping Competition for 2021. Thanks to everyone who participated this season, it was certainly nice to be back to more of a traditional season this year after the events of 2020 and I hope you all have enjoyed being part of the competition again this year. Thanks once again to Chief and the team here at BigFooty for their ongoing support of the competition. BigFooty's support of the competition over the past few years has been fantastic so a special thanks once again to the team here. Even though the home and away season has finished, the finals begin next weekend and I'll be running a finals tipping competition for fun over the duration of the finals series with the opening post for this to go up on Wednesday evening once the fixtures have been released. After such a great season this year, hopefully we'll be back with a bigger and better tipping competition for the WAFL in 2022. Don't forget to also stick around in the off-season for all of your off-season news, player movements, pre-season information and other club news from around the WAFL as we head into the summer months after the season has finished.

Cheers! :thumbsu:

The home and away rounds have finished for Season 2021 with the finals series now on the horizon. This year sees the WAFL return to a five team finals series spread over four weeks with the first week of the finals split across Saturday and Sunday. As is tradition for the BigFooty WAFL Tipping Competition, we will be tipping across all three grades each week and with a bonus point up for grabs this week, that sees a total of seven points available for the first week of the finals in 2021.

The League finals get underway on Saturday with the Qualifying Final between South Fremantle and Claremont at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Saturday afternoon at 2:40pm. Both the Bulldogs and Tigers enjoyed very good home and away seasons, each claiming 13 wins to occupy second and third spots on the ladder come the end of the final round with Souths grabbing a home qualifying final after finishing with a 2.37% advantage over the Tigers. Both South Fremantle and Claremont spent most of the season inside the top five and have played some memorable finals games in recent seasons, in particular last year's Grand Final which proved to be one the best season deciders seen in the last few years. The Bulldogs and Tigers also enter this game having won four of their last five matches and also match up well on each other with all of their games in recent times decided by relatively small margins. With that in mind plus both sides having shown excellent form in the past few weeks, expect this game to be a belter with the winner to take on Subiaco in the Second Semi Final next week.

On Sunday afternoon, West Perth host Perth in the Elimination Final at Provident Financial Oval. West Perth had a sluggish start to Season 2021, dropping three of their opening four games to find themselves in ninth position after five rounds. However, the Falcons won 11 of their next 12 games to rocket into top three contention before an unexpected loss to East Fremantle in the penultimate round knocked any opportunity the Falcons had of gaining the double chance in the finals. In the end, West Perth finished the season in fourth place with 12 wins, earning them a home elimination final in the process. The Falcons face a familiar opponent on Sunday in Swan Districts, a side they've met on four occasions in sudden death finals in the last 13 years. Swan Districts started the season very brightly, winning three of their first four matches to establish themselves inside the top five very early in the season and were mostly consistent during the year, finishing the season with 10 wins. Swans have shown they can match it with the best sides and will certainly be no cannon fodder in the finals this year so this game is certain to be a top notch match. This game is also the TV game this week, coverage begins at 2:30pm on Channel Seven on Sunday with bouncedown scheduled for 2:40pm.

In the Reserves, Swan Districts face Perth in the Qualifying Final at Fremantle Community Bank at 9:30am on Saturday. Swans have been the clear second ranked side for most of the season, having spent the majority of 2021 inside the top two and finished the season with an 11-5 record. They take on Perth who have won six of their last nine matches and managed to grab third place on the ladder with nine wins and seven losses despite a late scare from Subiaco in the final round in what promises to be a solid match up. In the Elimination Final, Subiaco take on West Perth with no tomorrow for the losing side. Subiaco finished the season very strongly, recording three straight wins to finish with a 9-7 record which included a 133 point demolition of Peel Thunder in the final round to race into fourth spot come the end of the season. The Lions face a West Perth outfit who also have a 9-7 record and have spent the most of the season hovering around the mid point of the ladder but won four of their last five matches to take fifth place. Both Subiaco and West Perth have shown some reasonable form in the Reserves during the season so this looks set to be a great game on Sunday with bouncedown set for 12pm at Provident Financial Oval.

In the Colts, Claremont battle East Perth in the Qualifying Final on Saturday with the game to get underway at 12pm at Fremantle Community Bank Oval. The Tigers finished the season in second place with 12 wins, enjoying a good season thus far to earn themselves a double chance in the finals with their late season form being of a very good standard. The Tigers will face off against East Perth with the Royals boasting an 11-5 record from their home and away rounds having also played some good footy at times. Both clubs come into this game off a loss so they'll be keen to atone for that with the winner to take on Swan Districts next week. The Elimination Final has East Fremantle taking on West Perth at 9:30am at Provident Financial Oval on Sunday. East Fremantle came home like a steam train in the last part of the season, winning their last four games to swoop into fourth spot on the ladder which included upsetting the more fancied East Perth in the final match of the season. Their opponent on Sunday is West Perth with the Falcons having spent a good portion of the season outside the top five before four wins from their last five games saw them claim fifth spot. Both sides come into the game with excellent form so the this final could go down to the wire on Sunday morning.

The weather this weekend is looking alright at this stage. Saturday may see the chance of an early morning shower but the day is set to be mostly sunny with a maximum of 19 degrees. Sunday is looking good with sunny conditions and 19 degrees expected with easterly winds set to back off a bit later in the day.

Well, the finals are here and there are a number of good games on the radar in the first week of the finals. The weather is set to be pretty good so hopefully we'll see some great games of football over the weekend to see who'll be facing off in the semi finals next weekend. Happy tipping!!
