Tipping Ladder after Round Three

Round Three proved to be a mixed bag for a number of tipsters this week with quite a lot of variations in the selections covering the round with scores ranging from one to as high as five. Freezin and Kram tipped the card this week while Kram went one better and was spot on with the margin to secure the bonus point and pick up six points for the round.

With three rounds completed, Freezin moves to the top of the leaderboard with 11 points, andana sits second on 10 points while Monocle has moved into third place with nine points.


Round Four Fixtures (Mother's Day Round/Split Round)

Swan Districts vs Claremont at Steel Blue Oval (2:10pm, margin)
East Perth vs Subiaco at Leederville Oval (2:10pm)
Peel Thunder vs Perth at Lane Group Stadium (2:10pm)
West Perth vs South Fremantle at Pentanet Stadium (2:10pm)


Round Four has arrived with four games this week on Saturday afternoon at 2:10pm with one game the following weekend. The round commences with the battle of the Leederville Oval co-tenants with East Perth hosting Subiaco in the round's opening fixture. East Perth travelled to Northampton last week and were blitzed by East Fremantle in the opening quarter as the Sharks' kicked 10.4 to 1.4 to hold a 54 point lead at quarter time. However, the Royals hit back in the second term, kicking five goals to none to reduce the margin to just over four goals before Old Easts kicked away in the third stanza with three goals to hold a 40 point lead at three quarter time. East Perth's five final quarter goals threatened to take the game away from the Sharks but the Royals fell short in the end by 10 points. The Royals face Subiaco who came up against a very good West Perth outfit last Saturday. The Falcons were impressive and made the most of their opportunities with each side having similar inside 50 counts and scoring shots across the game but West Perth came up victors as Subiaco finished with their third loss of the season and is the first time the Lions have lost three games consecutively since 2013. This game will be huge for the Lions given their season start and also for the Royals too who will be looking to consolidate their spot in the top three.

Peel Thunder face Perth in the next game down at Lane Group Stadium in Mandurah. Peel Thunder travelled to Lathlain to take on the West Coast Eagles' WAFL side in the previous round and played well all day, starting off strongly with five goals in the opening term and extending their lead in each quarter which is only the 15th time the Thunder have won each quarter in their history. A three goal last term capped off the day as the Thunder ran out 55 point winners and pushed themselves back into the top five. Perth played host to Swan Districts last week and started the first half very well, holding Swans to just 3.2 while booting 6.6 which potentially could have been more had they kicked a bit straighter in front of goal. However, Swan Districts charged back into the game in the third term and then overran the Demons in the final quarter in what was Perth's second straight defeat for the season. The Demons' percentage is already quite low at 68.66% so they'll want to turn that around and the best way to do that is to put some wins on the board, starting with their match against the Thunder this week.

West Perth face off against South Fremantle on Saturday afternoon in probably the round's most anticipated fixture. After a first up loss, West Perth have won their next two matches against good opponents in Peel Thunder and Subiaco and play host to last season's runners up in South Fremantle. The Falcons did well against the Lions last week and their accurate scoreline of 16.4 helped them secure victory last weekend and saw them enter the top five for the first time this season. South Fremantle meanwhile played out a tight contest against Claremont last week, the Bulldogs trailed Claremont for most of the first half but perhaps could have found themselves in front at half time after booting 5.7 versus the Tigers' 7.2. The Bulldogs then kicked three goals in the third quarter, taking the lead off Claremont with one quarter to play. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, they registered just one behind in the final quarter as Claremont dominated the last term with the Tigers' 2.7 enough to see them stay undefeated. This game should be a good one on Saturday I feel, both teams look to be up and about again this season and has the potential to be a really good contest.

The TV game this week and therefore our margin match is the fixture between Swan Districts and Claremont at Steel Blue Oval in Bassendean. Swan Districts faced Perth last week and were outplayed in the first half by the Demons, trailing by 22 points at half time although it could be argued it should have been more thanks to Perth's errant kicking at goal. Swans came back into the contest during the third quarter, booting five goals to two before another four goals in the last term to the Demons' two saw the Black Ducks get home by five points to register their first win of the season. Swans play host to Claremont who endured a topsy-turvy game against South Fremantle last week. Claremont led at quarter time and half time but relinquished the lead in the third quarter with Souths kicking three goals to one to take a seven point lead at the final change. However, the Bulldogs kicked just a solitary behind in the last term while Claremont' inaccurate 2.7 gave them an 11 point victory and keeps the Tigers undefeated after the opening three matches, the only team to have not lost a game thus far. Swans have been okay so far this season and have held their own against each side they've played so this should be entertaining encounter on Saturday. This match is now the TV game for this week with the coverage starting at 2pm on Channel Seven while bouncedown follows at 2:10pm.

There isn't a lot of change this week in the Reserves and Colts. All Reserves' matches are on Saturday at 11:40am with the exception of the Swan Districts versus Claremont game which will be at 9:30am. In the Colts, there are three Saturday matches all at 9:10am while Swan Districts take on Claremont on Sunday, also at 9:10am.

The weather for Saturday is looking very good with a sunny day expected and a maximum of 26 degrees forecast. A perfect day for football.

Well, round four is here and the ladder has begun to take shape with some surprises so far. There's some good games on the horizon and some big ones too given what has transpired over the opening three rounds which will hopefully produce some great football on Saturday. Happy tipping!! :thumbsu:

Hi all, the WAFL has postponed the upcoming game on Saturday between East Fremantle and West Coast Eagles due to the Eagles not being able to field a side meeting the eligibility requirements of the match (minimum 18 contracted AFL and WAFL players) with at least three being AFL contracted.

As such, both clubs have been given a bye for this week with the match likely to be played on the first week of the general bye later in the year. With the game now not being played which was also the TV game, we will not be tipping for this game on Saturday. Instead the TV game will now be Swan Districts vs Claremont at Steel Blue Oval so a margin will be required for this match.

I will edit my post above to reflect this and will make another post later in the week for those who have not yet tipped. I'm happy for all tipsters who have already tipped to amend their posts right up until 2:10pm on Saturday and tipsters who have not yet made their selections will only need to make selections for four games this weekend.
