Or were the stats for those matches not published.

BTW, is there a good WAFL web-site??
actually just looked at www.wafl.com.au and its not a bad web-site at all. Probably actually easier to navigate around then the AFL web-site.

How strong is the Colts competition?? Its under 21's I assume. Do people take any notice of guys in that comp as future AFL prospects, or would those players naturally be moved straight into first grade WAFL??

Munro [shoulder] and Chambers [wrist] are injured while Swan Districts had the bye which means Hansen, Johnson and Hunter didn't play.

Colts is effectively the WA under 18 competition... our under 18 squad will consist of guys playing in the colts like Matthew Moody and Jacob Surjan...

I'm of the opinion that most AFL talent scouts really just look at the Colts and then head home, they don't have a real good look at the league teams. This assumption has been pretty well proved after speaking to a scout for a Victorian team.

Alot the players recruited lately to AFL teams, have been drawn straight from colts and have not played a league game.

I would've thought if players are good enough to be drafted, most (given the are physically developed enough) would be playing in the WAFL seniors??

anyone see the performance from Adam Rowles on the weekend for West Perth Colts.

According to the web-site he racked up 48 touches (37 kicks and 11 handballs) along with 9 marks and 13 inside 50's. Thats amazing numbers!!

He also topped the possession getters for West Perth in Round 12 (29 touches), and again in round 11 (26), bye in round 10, second highest in round 9 (27), third highest round 8 (16), DNP Round 7, 6, second top in round 5 (23), second top round 4 (20), highest round 3 (29), no stats first two rounds.

Incredible numbers, and that 48 touch game last weekend is simply incredible.

Is he touted as a high draft pick at all??

And I also noticed when I went back through the West Perth stats that Kepler Bradley is gettin 25+ touches most weeks in the colts competition.

I call it raiding the maternity ward.

My point is alot of the players drafted are not physically and mentally prepared to play against the big boys. Look at the players drafted who then spend a year or two playing in the WAFL before they are ready to play AFL.

Draft for the year they turn 19, and then if they are any good, they will have had a season playing against men.

How 'bout the draft age can be whatever but the player has to have played 20 senior games in their state(or local if they play in a country area) competition, some of these kids racking up the numbers against other under age players would get a shock playing against a wily old fox like a Richard Taylor,Brett James or Adrian Fletcher.

Only thing about some stats(like for Collica) is he is a backman so doesnt NEED to get 20-30 possessions, what is needed is how he went against his opponent/how well they went and this can really only be worked out by actually SEEING him play. Ive seen him a couple of times and while not being flamboyantly good he is his usual self, he does the job no fuss, nothing special but consistent and withour much error. Will this work against him in regards to getting recalled?

Stat's don't tell the full picture, but when someone like Glass was getting 20+ possessions a game before being recalled, it doesn't look that good for Collica.

Should be a few scouts at the SANFL vs WAFL game this weekend with our Under 16s and Under 18s Squad playing in the lead up games.

Out of interest, how tall is Staker?

Is he tall enough to be a key backman (ie 192-196 aprox)?

He seems to be getting a few BP's and might have a real future with us.

Definately tall enough - around the 195cm mark I think. Needs to fill out a bit though before he can hold down a key position for us.
