I don't "panic panic" when it comes to Morton, for I already knew he was McShit. Whether he's been injured or not is irrelevant, for he's been shit and is still shit.

Was at the Claremont game:

McGovern was fantastic. Leading patterns and work ethic were great. Seemed to relish the fact that Lee was no longer there. Enjoyed being the focal point. Has really solid hands and broke open a few packs. Compared to where he was this time last year and then the year before he is constantly improving. Think he is very much worth promoting at the end of the year and if Brown goes we can then send McInniss to the backline.

I've been saying it since 2008, Clt v Swans Colts PF. Would have rathered taken Nelson, but it was only pick 80 odd so I'm not going to stress too much about it. He didn't play for Claremont today though Tesser, he's at EP, so it was win win for Claremont really.

Agreed, that he has his chance to prove himself, so it's all up to him.
Brown looked average for East Freo today, Brennan did a couple of good things. I am still eating handfuls of humble pie (which may account for my large weight gain

) over Wes Lammie, the most improved WAFL footballer, bar none. Newman was very good. Elari, who I've liked for a couple of years was also good, along with Nathan Broad and a 19yo Charlie Cameron, from I don't know where, was fantastic. :thumbsu:

Yes, but the trotting was less than it was last year. He played one game of colts footy the year before last, because of the hand injury, picked up 30 odd possies and kicked 5 or 6 goals. I've been waiting for his fitness to improve so he can do similar things at league level. That was his best game so far, IMO. His tackling when we didn't have the ball was also pretty good today, he was the one running players down in the first when no one else was really that interested (until Harding got hold of them at quarter time

). It looks to me like he has taken on board the 'advice' he has been given by the Eagles though.

Or how one game can bias a view (not having a go). Never seen his kicking being a particular problem, didn't think it was that bad but didn't think it was the type that would win a kicking comp either. I'll watch the game tonight (if my boys let me get near the TV).

Yeah, he did some good things (Brown), well in marking contests, but against smaller players. He didn't impose himself, IMO, like he should be able. If Stavros didn't move him to Geappen (who, remember, does not chase, OK, he laid 1 tackle today), well...... I thought EF would dominate, with that lineup, so I guess I'm marking them harder because of what I would expect them to do. Geappen only needs a handful of chances to kick 6 goals though, he's not the type of player to rack up 30 possies and 6 goals, you've got to be on your guard the whole game and you can look good rebounding off him, as I guess Brennan did to me, but you look at the scoreboard and see 6 goals against and go "really, didn't see that". Make sense?

I am sure Dodd started on Geappen and Brown spent the first half playing tight/shut-down on Notte. Brown shut him down well but you'd probably expect more then a strict shut down job of the opposition's 2nd best key forward from Brown.

I thought Brennan was ordinary. Newman didn't dominate but he was dangerous.

If Brennan was indeed on Geappen then that was an idiotic move that was never going to work.

Interesting that Hamp played ahead of Chad Jones.

Now Mitch McGovern didn't play Colt's or Reserves but I'd play him ahead of Hamp. Much more dynamic.

Good call EH I am a fan of Mitch and think that he is going to be a good player . pretty agile for his height.

I dont think Chad has been 100% fit and his pre season has had some interuptions however he did kick 5 in the magoos today.

Sorry, had a nap (umpired junior cricket GF this morning, then to East Freo) and watching the Falcons v Royals debacle and it's coming back to me. Geappen got 2 gift goals, 1 for being bumped over (yes, the academies were a few weeks ago) after a point and the other a free from a deliberate point forced by the Sharks. You can't blame the defender for those.

I agree with all but the highlighted. He's a definite swing or miss type, hopefully West Coast can bring the best out of him.
