How did Arena Joondalup handle the 20,000+ crowd that would have been there today?
No doubt most of the Eagles fans would have been there to watch their Reserves side running around much like all of the Freo fans would have been watching their Reserves at Lathlain especially with no Eagles, Freo or any other AFL game to clash with it.
Surely the crowd figures in the paper are missing a zero on the end as Nisbett & Rosich promised all & sundry their fans would flock back to the WAFL to watch their Reserves!
This alignment club bullshit needs to be knocked on the head ASAP before the wonderful 128 year history & fabric of the WAFL is destroyed beyond repair!

Reserves start next year bro.

Longer time goes, the more people nisbett and rosich promised that will attend. By the way, if you get extra 500 people at a wafl game, to me that's "flocking".

What's wrong with wafl? Same players, same teams. Just some playing in a same team. Fabric of wafl is to remain second tear comp and nothing changes in that regard.

No Hutchings for West Perth. Injured or in the mix for round 1?

Seriously, I don't know why 20000 people would flock to Joondalup to watch Cale Morton and Blayne Wilson! That's the sum total of West Coast players in that team. One has never played for us and the other is a rookie.

You make WAY too much sense to be posting here. :thumbsu:

Neither of the two are rookies, technically.

It has started, just in a diluted format so far. All players aligned to Peel as well as any recruits who didn't play in the wafl last year (Wellingham, Morton) have already moved over this season. Next year the rest will move over

I wondered how long it would take for this answer to be peddled out. Honestly, you don't expect the crowd figures to change that much next year with the 'full' alignment, do you? It won't and you know why it won't? Well, if you've followed the WAFL, you will follow a team already, you are not going to up and change teams because it's not in your makeup (and I'm not talking you personally galileo, I mean people per se). For example, I will NEVER follow anyone but Swans, EVER, don't care if Naitanui goes and plays for East Perth, I could not bring myself to support another team. So the assertion that those that follow the WAFL but simply don't go will suddenly up and support East Perth or Peel is falacious, IMO.

Dead right Swannies, Nisbett just sells the line in the paper like Demetriou does so most people think it is factual. WAFL crowds won't increase at all, if anything they will diminish even further as Most fair dinkum East perth supporters from next year on will realise their club has no identity.

I've been to 1 WAFL game in my lifetime. When I move back to Perth I'll most likely go at least once every couple of weeks to watch East Perth play

Like they will care if it brings them success

Does anyone have a quote from Nisbett regarding WAFL attendance for the "aligned" teams? Because i think that's just another straw-man.

People won't go to watch the WAFL in greater numbers because it isn't the elite level of our sport.

From what TV coverage Morton isn't anywhere near ready for selection at a higher level. Wilson was doing his job in the back line against fairly constant pressure from the Falcons. His disposal could do with some work but

Thats a good write up on McGovern. I presume he was playing from CHF?

Oh no, I thought Wilson's disposal was top line. A couple of those 50m kicks to the wings were excellent.

McGovern has been coming along in leaps and bounds over the past couple of years.:thumbsu::thumbsu:

If your against alignment thats fine but crowd numbers dont either negate or support your argument.

I've always been a very mild tigers fan, having grown up in Claremont. I'll be more interested in watching the eagles 2s, but won't care about the result, more in how the eagles players play.

Will you actually travel to Basso, Peel, Lathlain etc etc and pay $15 to get in the gate? That is what I am saying, that not a lot more will. Some will sure, but not the thousands that were being bandied around.
