Your thoughts on Adamson's debut Barney44
Steady without being spectacular, just played his role and did what he had to do. Kicked a long bouncing goal from the centre square which should be on the WAFL highlights video for the round. Going to be a few players coming back after the bye so he might struggle to keep his spot.

Is there a spot available for a rookie upgrade?

Newman .. would love to see him play instead Selwood or as the sub. Finals wildcard?
Heaps of potential upgrades with lots of long term injuries.

If one of Cripps, Hill or LeCras get injured, an in-form Newman would be a good back-up option. Although I think if one went down the MC would lean towards just playing two small/medium forwards and bring in an extra mid.

We have stacks.

Waters, Emac, and Brown all make room for rookies and only Lucas has been upgraded. Then there is the elevation mid year that can be done.

East Perth as a whole only laid 42 tackles. Compare that with Geelong today who laid 95 tackles.

McNamara was named EF's best, and laid 0 tackles. Out of the two sides, a total of 22 players laid either 0 tackles or 1 tackle for the entire match.

Hardly enough said.
That I find just incredible really. How can anyone go an entire game a lay 0 tackles?

No idea with Waterman other than he is unavailable, hasn't even come down to watch games which most injured players do.

Lycett being held back, might have had 16 practice shots on goal after training instead of the sports scientist recommendation of only 14.

Waterman was sitting in the grandstand on Saturday with Tunbridge, McGinnity, Lamb and Karpany.

THE WEST AUSTRALIAN "AFL WATCH"

Corey Adamson :
Kicked 80m goal early in debut and used his strength to good effect as an inside mid.
Tom Barrass : Continues to dominate as a key defender . Had 11 disposals and five intercept marks .
Paddy Brophy : Had 15 disposals as a running defender .
Damien Cavka : Gathered 11 possessions on debut playing mostly as a small forward .
Brandt Colledge : Did his job on-ball and as a high forward to gather 16 disposals .
Mark Hutchings : Brilliant start to set up game , thereafter influential with 31 disposals as a senior on-baller .
Kane Lucas : Strong second half on a wing enabled him to get 30 touches .
Dylan Main : Played wing and half-back in the reserves . Finished with 21 touches .
Fraser McInnes : Busy with 16 disposals and 15 hit-outs as a key forward and back-up ruckman .
Murray Newman : Three goals and 14 disposals made him a productive small forward .
Rowen Powell : No great impact with just 10 possessions as a key forward .

Have a spare Key Defender and Key Forward in form , Hutchings as midfield reserve and good signs with Adamson showing some signs he might play AFL one day , an eighty metre centre clearance goal in the first quarter is a good start to your Senior career .... wait and see .
Adamson only just debuted?

Obviously injured up to now?o_O

Thrilled that barass has kept up his form- especially jumping up from reserves this year. Hopefully we get a chance to debut him later in the year. (without it being a forced in, if you get my drift)

With Hutchings, Newman, barrass & even Lucas in decent form, it does leave us with some decent depth waiting if required. Also keeps the pressure on the 22 to perform, which can only be a good thing.

Did anyone actually see Lucas play? Every time i've seen him he seems to be able to find enough of the ball in a similar role to Masten but has questionable disposal and little hurt factor. Just wondering if the game on the weekend was similar.

First game in the league side. Had been playing ressies until last weekend
Ok. Just taking his time getting back into the swing of playing AFL.

Not unexpected really.

If by the end of this season he can hold his spot and maybe get named in the best for a game or two then that IMO would be a tick for Corey.

Cheers:thumbsu:

Did you watch the game? Just wondering how he's actually playing without just looking at his stats./
Lucas has been playing good footy last couple of weeks disposal has been much better.
Runs both ways.
Still prefer others to him though.

Karpany is surely gone.. was a bizarre selection in the first place and hasn't done anything in WAFL reserves let alone league.
He's simply not a small forward. He's the one that you want to gain possession in congestion in the middle, provide some cutting, line-breaking runs and deliver inside 50.

I'd be disappointed if we dump him without giving him a solid go in the middle/wing at WAFL level. None of this 5 minutes a quarter crap. 5/6 games straight full time.

Having said that, I suspect his persistent injuries have probably hampered him from having the tank to play there.

He hasn't fired a shot in two years. Unless that changes before the end of the year I'm not sure he gets offered a new contract (or at least he shouldn't).

I suspect Tunbridge will be retained. Would be a prick move by the club to send him in for shoulder surgery, end his season, and then not retain him.
bigger prick move not to get his shoulder fixed then delist him
