How did ____ go on the weekend?

Why not consult the Alesana Player Video Database.

It’s four additional spots btw.

Hopefully at the end of the three years:
  • our list has developed to the point that a fair amount of the guys not in the senior team are genuine depth players rather than all being developing kids
  • the results will have improved to the point that we can actually entice some decent recruits to join to make up for the fact that we’re losing rookie list spots (although to be fair that doesn’t seem to have been much of an issue this year)
  • maybe we can convince the WAFL to give us some extra salary cap/points to help bridge the gap.
I doubt that this will change. The Wafc has adjusted it over the last few years and it is reasonably generous.

West Coast has 83 points for 25 players and East Perth have 90 points for 55 players.
I am not sure the Beagles will get anywhere close to their point allocation this year unless their are some recruits we don't know about.
At the moment Ash Johnson & Datsun are about 7 points each.
Ewing is 5 points and i think burke and Mumme are two each.
Have the feeling Jamo will only be a one pointer as all his senior footy has been at West Coast.

As for the salary cap East Perth has $87,000 more as every player who run sout in a league game is paid unlike the Eagles who only the ammos get paid a Wafl payment i think.

My obsessive checking of the WAFL site has turned up another apparent new signing:

26 year old Corey Hitchcock, who played 6 league games for Subi in 2023 and 3 games for Perth in 2021-22.

Looks like he’s from North Albany and played colts and ressies for Claremont.
Played suburban footy in Melbourne last year.

Oh, and Luke Yeo seems to be staying on, having dropped off the list earlier. Good news.

With the additional rookie spots, taken by Robertson, Macrae and Schoenberg, coupled with the breadth of talent we've drafted the past four seasons or so, I am more optimistic about our WAFL team's fortunes than I have been for years.

Sure, the purpose of that side is for our young talent to develop, but after five years or so of being smashed week-in, week-out, it's nice to have some optimism.

New additions to WAFL in addition to Robertson/McRae/Schoenberg from what I can find are.
Jamieson stayed on.
Cory Hitchcock
Ash Johnson
Connor Klemke
Jack Walsh
Archie Watt

More than happy to add or correct me?

Looking a considerably better WAFL team!!

Klemke and Walsh played last year, I’m not sure Klemke is staying on as his number’s been reallocated (to Jamieson).

WAFL squad at the moment
50 Caleb Datson
51 Archie Watt*
52 Jack Eastough
54 Callum Jamieson
55 Ash Johnson*
56 Thomas Edwards-Baldwin
57 Josh Burke
58 Jack Walsh
59 Maxi Mumme
60 James Ewing
61 Darby McCarthy
62 Orien Kerr
62 Corey Hitchcock*
64 Andreis Mercer
65 Justin Prior
66 Luke Yeo
69 Mitch Henderson
70 Shannon Lucassen

Notes
I’m assuming TEB is playing on, he’s never had a WAFL player page for some reason. (Neither does Sandy Brock. Weird)

Players who are showing up as active are listed unless they’ve had their number taken down (eg Sparks who we know has gone to SA, Klemke). This includes Kerr even though Hitchcock’s seemingly been given his number 62.

Pretty sure Edwards-Baldwin was training with the main group on Monday along with 2 or 3 others - McCarthy, Mercer and maybe Walsh

Don’t know what any of them look like so I’m going off jumper numbers - and at one point I heard somewhere call out “Tom” when no.56 was involved in the play

I’ve heard through the grapevine that Ash Johnson hasn’t returned after Christmas and is no longer playing for the Beagles. Will play in South Australia somewhere.

Disappointing to say the least.

There's at least one defunct insurance company related poster that will be happy about this.

I only saw Ash Johnson once pre Christmas and he did no more than walk laps albeit I didn’t go to every session. Don’t recall LittleFires mentioning him often either

Archie Watt hasn’t been at training since Christmas after being at every session before the break.

Jamieson hasn’t trained with the group at any stage either - not even on the oval named after him

Sorry, should have been clearer. He hasn’t returned to WAFL eagles training and has informed the club he isn’t coming back.

That's a shame. Wouldn't he have signed a contract? Even without one he's still committed to join the club this year. Maybe we dodged a bullet if he can't keep to his word

but then who is going to give us performances like this?

He was working with the tall forwards at our very first training session and looked in decent nick.

Not sure on the situation or if it's even real but it'd be a real kick in the guts to lose our "marquee" shining this late in the preseason and not be able to find a new one if the information is accurate.

Might have a replacement lined up in former West Perth forward Sasha Kurnett, who retired at the end of 2024 but is now showing up as a WCE player.

36 senior games for the Cardies including the 2022 GF. Had a 25 possession, 4-goal game against the Beagles in 2024 which probably turned their heads.

That the shorter guy who is built like a brick shit house?

WC WAFL Eagles 27/11/25 press release.
Dynamic forward Johnson has signed a 2 year contract through to the end of 2027.
He did play for Sturt before he was drafted to Collingwood.

Absolute kick in the guts, a..hole move by Johnson if correct, walking out on a 2 year contract!!

Maybe Sturt or the club he has gone too has a very good player coming to Beagles in return?

WA Football still has Johnson listed as an in for us.

West Coast

2025 finish: 10th

Ins: Callum Jamieson (West Coast/AFL), Ash Johnson (Collingwood/AFL), Archie Watt (Kyambram/Goulburn Valley League)

Outs: Nil

The West is reporting on Kernutt’s signing. Didn’t realise he played in a flag for the Falcons.

Also continuing to include Ash Johnson as a signing, and he’s still showing up as an active WCER player. (That may only mean we haven’t agreed to release him, if the stories of him walking are true).
