How did ____ go on the weekend?

Yeah I'm saying he'd be a better option than having all 3 big guys in the forward line.
Tbh all 4 of them are vanilla, doesn't mean they won't be any good tho. Maric is probably the least vanilla out of them all

I thought Maric was much more dangerous with his kicking going inside 50 than he is leaving D50 so can see the utility in him playing as a third tall, or even wing.

At this stage I think Maric just needs to play a role that keeps him in the team until we sort through what we’re doing with our talls, presuming Oscar leaves at the end of the year.

Maric’s issue is other players have more utility in front half. Shanahan is genuine KPP sized, Reid and Williamsx2 can all ruck.

In a scenario of Oscar/Waterman, Maric and 2nd ruck playing forward together the forward line would be undersized when the 2nd ruck covers Flynn in the middle.

We have lots of roles to work through and Maric’s isn’t really a first order priority imo.

Yeah who knows if he'll be a long term answer but for now I think he's a good ,versatile option to have but maybe he's not being utilised properly.

Maric really doesn’t play close to his height and even as a third tall, many of these medium defenders would have him covered. To his credit Maric moves well and clean below his knees. You could essentially fit them all and have Maric and have Maric as a HFF/wing.
Yeah hff =3rd tall

Maric is a tall hff/hb/wing. Hes not really in the same category as the actual KPFs on the list imo

Problem is when we do have the 3 talls up forward, adding Maric makes us too tall. If Maric replaces one of JWil/Archer then we are too small up forward as he doesnt play his height.

Hes an awkward size, more suited to a wing or high half forward for now

GoEaglesGoSGIO I know a Saudi prince who's got a bit of spare dosh to invest. DM me and we can get this superleague off the ground. I've already emailed a proposal in PDF format to Pyke and the board. Would you be willing to change the team's name from the West Coast Eagles to Saudi International Petrochemical Company Super Kings™?
Id call it the GFL

Ginas Football League

Gotcha, 3rd tall in the backline is a small , more mobile defender who can play tall or small, 3rd tall in the forward line is a resting ruck
3rd tall in the backline changes depending on personnel and matchups, to intercept, play tall/small, etc.

3rd tall up forward is either your backup ruck or a guy who is another marking target to allow your 1/2 kpf to go and ruck for a bit. Maric doesnt do any of these things well enough to push out any of our talls

Said before, like Hutch, Maric looks first 25. But, like Hutch, where?

If not the backline, or HFF, could he play with Oscar and JWill/Archer/BWill as the Waterman replacement. The up and back guy?

3rd tall is a such a vague position. It’s really that shpuld be that tweener taller in the mould of a Gunston/stringer but some clubs use a a kpf/resting ruck and some even use that dynamic midsized forward like a dusty/rayner/danger.

I would have agreed till recently with this. His kicking can be a real point of difference but he is kinda like a witho (couple real game openers and a heap of shit kicks). I complain about him as a defender but at least he doesn’t go missing in defence like he has been up forward. Think he is due for a stint in the WAFL really.

Agree it can vary a bit, but thats seemingly mostly a personnel issue.
Most clubs seem to prefer to have at least 2 marking targets up forward at all times, if they have a 190ish cm tall guy is a better target than another 195cm+ KPF then they play smaller. We dont have that issue at the Eagles though

Geelong play Danger and Henry as 3rd/4th talls, thats a bit of a role rather than height thing
Lions are a bit all over the shop with Gardiner and Morris being the 2nd/3rd talls since Daniher left.
Hawks play shorter, Gunston is basically their main KPF now with Chol number 2 but thats a personnel issue rather than a choice imo

Eagles are not a wholly owned subsidary... If they are they are breaking tax laws atleast. Indian Pacific Limited manage our operations and finance, not the WAFC. The WAFC role with Eagles is as a associated entity of Indian Pacific Limited

That wasnt the question or statement. The statement is WCE is a wholly owned subsidary. We are not

If you’re trying to get him to admit he got something wrong, good luck.
Why don't West Coast just use all of "their" money to buy Indian Pacific and then they will wholly own Indian Pacific, and then they can set up a breakaway from the WAFL and, if things don't improve, a breakaway from the AFL. Bloody Don Pyke been sitting on his hands since he got here...
