People haven't been talking much about Jarrad Waite and what can be expected of him next year.

Year after year ive heard him constantly being referred to as "a star in the making" will next year be his ultimate year?

Personally I think it will be his year to shine, or so i hope. :thumbsu:

Where do you think he'll play and how do you think he will go?

Jarrad Waite has the potential to be a star player. He just needs consistency...

I partly blame the footy club for this because Waitey has had to plug holes for most of his career. Now with a more balanced side, hopefully he can settle at CHF and start to have a real impact :thumbsu:

Put him on the wing and let him run riot. Give him the license to do what he wants, mainly working as a springboard and target for counter attacks and rebounds from the backline. He has everything to be our kouta and just run around taking grabs.

I just predicted this thread in the Setanta thread (although not until next week)..........I'm starting to scare myself.

ive been thinking about this for the past couple of days which could be even scarier !!

i agree with Waite being used as a hole filler last couple of seasons. Next year hopefully he will have a more permanent position and CHF could be his calling no doubt, any1 think he can do any damage down back or is this out of the question?

Finding it hard to see a problem with this post :thumbsu:.

true that! betts needs to be front and square of the big packs... something which he has been failing to do

I find myself holding my breath at the start of each season for Vinny's boy to realise his potential to be a superstar.

He has all the necessary attributes, and if he really wanted to, now with Red and JK gone, he could take CHF by the scruff of the neck and make the position his own... I don't think Ratten will swing him back and forward like a yo-yo like Pagan did, I can see Ratts leaving him in the forward line all day.

He could really take the next step, really be an elite CHF, but I guess its really up to him...

I think Waite took a step forward last year in that he developed a bit of consistency into his game.

FWIW, although i think CHF is his best position, i don't mind him playing CHB if its what the team needs balance wise. For Round 1 i would like to see Waite at CHB and Hartlett at CHF. Give Hartlett a go at CHF, and if he can't nail it down, then start swapping Waite into the forwardline. I don't have too much of an issue if Waite moves around a bit. Against some opponents we'll need him in defence, but then against teams with weaker forward lines, he could play forward. Although ideally yes it would be good if he could just play one position, but team balance needs to be considered

Waite's 07 was very promising. Though not yet at that consistent levels, the troughs weren't as bad and he played some excellent games. Had probably 2 or 3 quality patches, then would drift out for a game or two. Being his buddy in 07, I watched him very closely and one thing I noticed as the season went on, is the presence he started to acquire on the field, particularly late in the year running from defense and sneaking into the forward line.

Waite is a very, very good player when he is on song and confident, early season form up forward is the key for his confidence for a massive season ahead in 2008.

Stick him on a HFF where he can roam around a bit and give Hartlett, Cloke etc. the second backman at CHF.

Waite is extremely difficult to match up on if the best defender takes Fevola opposition clubs find it hard to match him up with 2nd string defenders.

We have a winer.:thumbsu: HFF is Waitey's best position. Hartlett can kill it at CHF on a third best defender and Fish then gets the fourth. Oh the possibilities!!!
