Waking up in '95

So I was trawling the Internet and I found a post on FB and a Reddit thread detailing what would people do if they somehow woke up and it is 1995 suddenly.

Keep in mind
No Wi-Fi
Smartphones are uesless
Etc...

So what would you do if you woke up 3 decades ago/ in the past?

I would tell primary school me to not bother going to uni. Take any shitkicking full time job straight out of school while still living at home and leverage a dozen $100k investment properties. I am now a multi millionaire and wouldn't have to work.

But as far as things to do go in 95, it is not far enough back, you still have windows computers and SNES/SEGA etc so not that much different really. You would just have to go to video ezy to rent videos instead of netflix.

My early childhood could've been decades earlier for all I knew, small town with no household tech, very out of time. Read a heap, played outside, all that. Also back then we had to trek an hour into the regional center for the supermarket and bank (not that again), also the shops closing Saturday lunch, all that would be a pain in the ass nowadays to readjust to in terms of the convenience of attending to basic needs.

Pre-1997 for consenting gay men in Tassie, stuff like that.

Fun part for a little while would be feasting on all the discontinued food items

If I was the age I am now? That would be interesting. It really is amazing how we have 24/7 access to any form of entertainment we choose from. It's hard to actually be bored these days, you can mindlessly watch some Netflix dross or scroll TikTok and twitter. Would be good I guess. Cheaper beer.

I applied by post for my first job in Melbourne - it was advertised in a newspaper.

Blokes wore suits and ties to the office with Friday casual days. Friday arvo down the pub was as early as you could get away with.

No slacking from home.

Most offices had PCs with Windows 95. Some homes had dial-up at 14.4 or 28.8 kbps but you had to disconnect your phone line to go online. Netscape Navigator was the dominant web browser.

Mobile phones were bricks.

CDs were the main format for music.

Home movie night was by VHS. You could hire new releases for 1 night then chuck it back through their letter box.

We got around by Melways.

I was in year 11 at School, I would hopefully be a bit wiser than in a couple of my stories in the Awkward Flirting stories thread.
