Walker an emg?

I have a feeling Collingwood will make a big play for Walker. He has genuine class and will really add to their midfield. I'm pretty sure they will be willing to give up their first round pick this year too.

I don't think we'd trade him for your first round. He's a number 2 pick, genuine class as you say and still has alot of improving to do (we haven't yet seen what he can do for the new carlton where the pressure if off the young kids a bit).

Why would we swap him for pick 14 in this draft? I'd be far more interested in a deal involving a key forward prospect.

Yes, because playing in the Ants will safeguard him against re-injuring his shoulder.

Your logic makes no sense - if Walker is right to play Ants, then the club must be confident he's right to go. Obviously, for whatever reason, they don't think he's ready for AFL level just yet, but that reason isn't fear he'll injure his shoulder yet again.
And you know this information how? The intensity of AFL in comparison to VFL is very different, and 2 weeks in the Bullants isn't enough to prepare a players body for AFL level hardiness after being out for almost a year, IMO.

SHEESH GUYS!
You guys should be happy that he isn't in yet. Last year and previous years to that he would be one of the first ones picked. We ahve guys to cover and who have covered his abscence. We can unleash the beast against Sydney.

Having said that i think there is still a chance he could play tonight

Well its good to know that the club is taking match fitness seriously. As you can see this year it's really been evidient how well we've been able to run out games.

I'm still surprised how Walker couldn't be match fit after doing so much running in his absence but anyway. The club know what they're doing.

I'll give you he mightn't be match hardened just yet, but do you honestly think they'd risk him at any level if they thought his shoulder wasn't hunky-dory?

Yeah I understand that Carlton would want more than pick 14 - what makes you think Collingwood will have pick 14? I actually think Collingwood will struggle to make the 8 this year with injuries, inexperience etc. I think it will be more like pick 7 or 8.

Its not about his shoulder.
Its about his disposal.
If he did play tonight and his disposal ist up to AFL level then that will be a huge Negative...... Let him refine hid disposal in the VFL and then bring him up.......CHrist everyone bitches and moans about Carrazzos disposal and then a guy who is underdone and is having probs with his disposal is fit then u all want him in the team

was at training y'day and saw the Walkers reaction after a conversation with Ratts right at the end of training. Im assuming he was told he wasnt playing tonight. His reaction was pretty evident to anyone that was watching him. He was ripping of the tape on his hands pretty forcefully and his shoulders and head were dropped when he was walking a lap of the oval.

I know for a fact that Ratts has high reagrd for Walker, but you could tell in an interview with Lappin earlier on in the week that walker would miss this week

Another week in the two's is not going to make a cracker of a difference re his skills for godsake. He has played two full games and done a few months of traininng... this is no more or less than most players do prior to round 1.

If it doesnt improve this week then give him another week. The fact is he wont be in the side until his disposal and fitness are up to the required standard to play a game for Carlton

Apparently his disposal was pretty good in the vfl last week?
I don't think his fitness is the question because from what I saw, he looked pretty fit and moved relatively well. The only reason he isn't playing tonight is the engima that hangs over his shoulder and how well it would pull up after such a physical game expected tonight.
Good decision by Ratts, as one more week in the Vfl will make him a better player and would give his shoulder one last little test before he plays in the big time.
