Kouta was skinnier than what he is today, no doubt about that, but that doesn't mean he was skinny. His body was ready to play at that time, that's my point.
Let's not forget that Kouta joined the club in 1992 and even by 1995 was still behind Williams, Bradley, Ratten and Brown as far as the midfield rankings went. '96 and '97 was when he finally started to shine and of course '99 and 2000 were his best seasons.

Walker is about to line up for his third season and faces a similar situation to Kouta in that our midfield now has Kouta, Stevens, Scotland as your more experienced midfielders and then comes the likes of Walker, Bentick, Simpson, Carazzo. Pagan will continue to put the aforementioned 3 players in the midfield first of all and then the younger blokes get a turn. This will hold Walker back from showing his full talents in the same way Kouta was held back early in his career. I don't suspect too many 19 year olds would be dominant midfielders, but on the retirement of Kouta, Walker will get the opportunity to step up and show what he is capable of, and that is at least one more season away.

I think you'll find the Whitnall "fine tuned athlete" comment was sarcasm.
Yeah I gathered that but it is all too easy to respond to sarcasm and is not very productive - A Paganism "dont argue with an idiot as no one will be able to tell the difference".

I generally access these boards to gain legitimate information on the club so thought i'd respond with my view on Lance, which by the way I think he is looking OK. I like many others would like to see him go to the next level in his fitness but he seems to do all the training the other guy's do but his body shape remains the same.

If I remember correctly Tony Lockett always looked overweight and unfit until the last 2 or 3 years of his career when he seemed to have conquered the ability to reach a peak level of fitness. I wonder if the same thing will happen with Lance?

I think most of us have come to the realisation that Lance is Lance. His body hasn't changed a hell of a lot since he was 18. Sure he's got abit stronger, but his shape is what it is. He's never going to be trim or cut.

Lance needs to get back to playing good football in the forward line. He has been and continues to be be paid far too much to be a loose man in defense. I'm afraid that his performances (or lack there of) the past few seasons has really been diappointing.

Personally, I would be traded him this past trading period as his value will only deteriorate from now on in. With the likes of Kennedy, Hartlett & O'hailpin all projecting as better forwards then defenders, where does Lance fit in going forward?
