the criticisms are justified. He has played 80 games now and shoule be doign better. No one is doubting that he tries. but he consistently turns the ball over when he is under no pressure at all. it was not just today it is every game. he had 30 possessions today but the majority were wasted. another reason why people focus on him is b/c he was the no2 pick in the draft so more was expected. this is not his fault but he has not shown anything that would justify him being selected so high in the draft.
Hey ****wit, have you watched a Carlton game or are you just a draft scout. If you watched footy you would realise our high draft picks (apart from Murphy) are absolute hacks, we have a joke of a captain, our only decent players are low draft picks (and rookies). Fisher, Setanta, Thornton, Bentick, Carrazzo, Jackson, Simpson, where did they get picked up, ??? a lot lower than the high draft hacks, thats the message I was trying to get across, but knowing this board and knowing my history this will just get shot down in flames and I will get banned !!!

Blueworld this is not about trying to scapegoat for today's lost. There were many poor performers and Walker was just one of them. But i think it's fair to start asking the questions. Did you hear Blight's comments today? it was commentators speak for 'walker is shit' i haven't completely given up hope but unless his skills improve significatly i don't see him as part of our future.
I know where you're coming from - I have been frustrated with Walker lately. His disposal is woeful and he clearly needs to work on it. He can get all the possessions he likes - he doesn't dispose well enough consistently. People will probably say that the whole team is hopeless when it comes to disposal - but Walker definitely has an issue with ball use.
Will need to work very hard with the skills coach to help his game over the pre-season.

Walker and all those others that fall into this category of having so much up side, but just poor skill and decision making.

Ah, Gibbs went No1 and every other Carlton supporter drools over this hack. They say he is young and inexperienced. Yet these same ********s want Bentick out because he is slow and has no skills !!! Bentick went No, god-knows-whatever, yet I know who I would have in my side !!! A guy who hasnt quite the talent but has a dip and has more courage than 90% of our list.

what happened did you realise you stuffed up when you said he had no guts and then felt the need to change the subject? i never said anything about our low draft picks (and no that was not the message you were trying to get across) and you've completely proved to everyone you've got no clue about footy because you're having a go at our high picks who are in their 1st or 2nd years for not showing enough, these blokes are still teenagers just in case you hadn't realised.

Wow. Didnt realise I would set off such a shitstorm! Look I like the way Walker goes for the pill, his run, courage etc. But it's all wasted by his disposal too often.
Of the posters on this board, I give more leniency to kids than most. But Walker is at the end of his 4th season in the system, not his first or second like Gibbs, Kennedy,Bower etc.. He has played 70+ games and is in the zone where he should be really taking games by the scruff. He is 190cm, quick, gutsy and can find the footy, but the fact that he gets 30+ possessions is meaningless when his kicking is so poor.

I think your being overly harsh on him, to tell you the truth. Yes, his first half, in particular the second quarter was a shocker - probably as bad as I've seen from him in a long time. But watch his second half, he was significantly better and I don't recall him missing a target. He needs to work on his disposal, but it's just those few kicks that stand out, which really hurt.
Pretty much sums up my take on Walker after watching him turn the ball over almost every time he touched it ..his decision making is also atrocious ...lets hope his skills improve over the summer ..but i have my doubts
Takes a few days before I get to see the game, london, which always leaves me in a goodposition to be objective on teh overall seasonrather reacting to a single bad performance.
