Dual premiership defender Dean Wallis' horror season has continued with Wallis breaking down once again at training last Monday afternoon.

Wallis, re-tore his hamstring on bending over to pick up a football!

This of course has heightened speculation that Wallis may be placed on the long-term injury list meaning that rookie sensation Damien Peverill would be able to continue his senior career in 2001.

But an Essendon official told BomberBlitz.com in May that Wallis' injury was worse than the club was publicly leading on and he told BomberBlitz.com that Wallis' career was most likely over and he again reiterated that point when contacted by BomberBlitz.com late last night. The Essendon official who wished not to be named said "Wally's most likely finished unfortunately barring a miracle, the club will not push him to make a decision, but expect him to bow out gracefully by the time of his testimonial dinner" When asked if this meant that Peverill will return to the senior list, the Essendon official stated "you'd be silly not to suggest that, it's a logical assumption to make"

Call me an optimist ;), i don't really know about this. Our club doesn't 'lead on' much. Long has been 2 weeks away for the last 8 weeks, does this mean that he is going to be 'retired' to the long-term injury list?

I'd be sad to see him bow out like this, but the guy will do what is best for 'the club'. Great team guy.

Guess we'll find out in the next few weeks!
