If a post isn't directly concerning the events of the war or starts to derail the thread, report the post to us and we'll move it over there.

Seeing as multiple people seem to have forgotten, abuse is against the rules of BF. Continuous, page long attacks directed at a single poster in this thread will result in threadbans for a week from this point; doing so again once you have returned will make the bans permanent and will be escalated to infractions.

This thread still has misinformation rules, and occasionally you will be asked to demonstrate a claim you have made by moderation. If you cannot, you will be offered the opportunity to amend the post to reflect that it's opinion, to remove the post, or you will be threadbanned and infracted for sharing misinformation.

Addendum: from this point, use of any variant of the word 'orc' to describe combatants, politicians or russians in general will be deleted and the poster will receive a warning. If the behaviour continues, it will be escalated. Consider this fair warning.

Finally: If I see the word Nazi or Hitler being flung around, there had better have a good faith basis as to how it's applicable to the Russian invasion - as in, video/photographic evidence of POW camps designed to remove another ethnic group - or to the current Ukrainian army. If this does not occur, you will be threadbanned for posting off topic

This is a sensitive area, and I understand that this makes for fairly incensed conversation sometimes. This does not mean the rules do not apply, whether to a poster positing a Pro-Ukraine stance or a poster positing an alternative view.

Rubio is probably the biggest snake in the grass....was the up and coming old school republican who then bent over and got appointed by Trump even after Trump publically humiliated him.
He sat back and did nothing when Vance and Trump bullied Zelensky. He has flipped over Ukraine a few times now.
Just occasionally you can see in his eyes that he knows he aligned himself with morons.
If he had declined joining this administration and sat tight until the next election after MAGA has imploded he would be a decent chance of being the next republican candidate. He took the poisoned chalice and will be tainted by his association with Trump.

Unfortunately MAGA isn't going to just disappear with Trump. Rubio is thinking he can try to appear 'MAGA enough' to get their support, whilst trying to guide (somewhat) the Republicans back to the old school Republican ways. Whether it works, or the next candidate is another MAGA lunatic will depend on how much Trump implodes and who that taints by association. Rubio is lucky enough he's away from everything domestic, where Trump's drop in support is going to come from.

Putin likes to pretend Russia is facing an existential threat from the West to justify his war, but Russia has only one existential threat. It's demographics. Namely it's declining population. Another example of taking it's very citizens it needs most to minimise that. Instead of those young men meeting future wifes and planning families, they are dead. That's a couple of hundred less kids born the next few years, when the numbers are already so bad, they've stopped reporting census data. Bravo Putin, you are truly making Russia great

I think you mean a couple of hundred less kids born in Russia each day as a result of all these unnecessary deaths.

When talking all losses, yes. This is just from those 18 year olds. ‘Missing births’ are much higher than just the deaths. Those at the line aren’t sending back swimmers in the mail to their girlfriends / partners and they don’t get rotated for leave.

The Russian population pyramid was already indented for ages 20-29 from the drop off of births during the collapse of the Soviet Union. Add in that age fleeing, dying or tied down in trenches and it’s no surprise they are desperate to hide how far up the creek they are. Putin doesn’t want his people seeing his war to rebuild Russia has accelerated its demise.
