This is the thread for discussing the War in Ukraine. Should you want to discuss the geopolitics, the history, or an interesting tangent, head over here:

If a post isn't directly concerning the events of the war or starts to derail the thread, report the post to us and we'll move it over there.

Seeing as multiple people seem to have forgotten, abuse is against the rules of BF. Continuous, page long attacks directed at a single poster in this thread will result in threadbans for a week from this point; doing so again once you have returned will make the bans permanent and will be escalated to infractions.

This thread still has misinformation rules, and occasionally you will be asked to demonstrate a claim you have made by moderation. If you cannot, you will be offered the opportunity to amend the post to reflect that it's opinion, to remove the post, or you will be threadbanned and infracted for sharing misinformation.

Addendum: from this point, use of any variant of the word 'orc' to describe combatants, politicians or russians in general will be deleted and the poster will receive a warning. If the behaviour continues, it will be escalated. Consider this fair warning.

Finally: If I see the word Nazi or Hitler being flung around, there had better have a good faith basis as to how it's applicable to the Russian invasion - as in, video/photographic evidence of POW camps designed to remove another ethnic group - or to the current Ukrainian army. If this does not occur, you will be threadbanned for posting off topic

This is a sensitive area, and I understand that this makes for fairly incensed conversation sometimes. This does not mean the rules do not apply, whether to a poster positing a Pro-Ukraine stance or a poster positing an alternative view.

Behave, people.

Kremlin have basically told Trump to **** off with his ultimatum of 50 days.

Once again Trump looks like a clown despite saying he isn’t being fooled, Russia has a green light to commit more terrorist acts in the next few months and beyond, and the Moscow stockmarket keeps going up because they know TACO man is a ****ing orange ghoul idiot who will never sanction Russia.

Lets not forget that donny said he would end the war within 24 hours of returning to the White House

We all know when it's near the date the Russians will start the usual 'we want peace, BUT here's a bunch of conditions that no one will agree to first'. Donny will say they are working towards it and it'll go beyond the 50 days. I'll be happy to be proven wrong, but I can't see Trump doing anything that really hurts the Russians enough to force them to the table.

It's up to the Europeans to give Ukraine the support it needs. They STILL are dithering on the key one that could hit the Russians - giving the frozen Russian assets to Ukraine. They could set it up as each week they hand over 10 billion, pausing whilst there's a ceasefire, as long as Russia actually negotiates properly. Still a lack of will there though.

100%. Its all about Trump looking after his **** buddy Putin.

Sanctions will never the light of day, TACO trump will just keep on kicking the can down the road.

Seems like square one to me. War continues indefinitely.

Agreed, US political posturing but nothing tangible or meaningful will actually occur. Europe is about a decade away from providing any real military assistance to Ukraine. By the end of this war, Ukraine will have the second most powerful army in the world, leading the way with battle proven drone technology.

The company’s AI software takes over control in the final 500 meters of flight—an area where human pilots often lose contact due to jamming.
This upgrade, TFL says, boosts mission success by 2–5 times while adding only 10–20% to cost.

At this point, the company can produce hundreds of thousands of units of TFL-1 modules and drone systems monthly. This backing will help the company to fund further R&D and improve the autonomy of the next generation of drones.

The visit of Keith Kellogg to Kyiv has become a bit of a meme. After Trump announced 50 days greenlight of terrorism on a sovereign nation, he's since complicated matters by delivering a Keith Kellogg deterrent system to Ukraine.

Since Kellogg arrived in Kyiv, the nightly terrorism attacks on Ukraine have avoided the capital specifically.

Political figureheads and diplomats have requested Kellogg remain in the capital for 50 days, and inquired as to whether more Kellogg Air Defense Systems can be sent.

In 2022, Switzerland ordered five Patriot systems, which were planned for delivery between 2026 and 2028. However, on 16 July 2025, the US officially announced a revision of delivery priorities due to the urgent need to replenish armaments for countries supplying weapons to Ukraine.

Switzerland will receive the systems from later production batches, resulting in delivery delays. Meanwhile, Germany has increased its aid to Ukraine by transferring an additional two Patriot systems.

Given Switzerland didn't want to sell Ukraine weapons early in the war because they were worried about their neutrality, they don't get much sympathy from me.

I never understood this.

Surely that is when you really need the arms! It may not be your fault that you're in conflict.

I keep thinking of Cornflakes every time this bloke's name comes up.

Or maybe don't be a hypocrite and have an arms export industry if you're worried about them being used in a war.

Given their neighbours, unless Merz is secretly a member of the AdF or Macron suddenly wants to relive Napoleons glory days, they are only threatened by a Russia that's already invaded close to their border. Pushing 'their' Patriot systems further East to Ukraine only reduces the need they'd ever need to use them. Since they (like Austria), free ride off being surrounded by NATO countries, a delay is the least they can do.

This man is so f*cking stupid. I sort of wish it wasn't true because it really does show how moronic some folks are and how the idiocy which thrives on X becomes a danger in the real world. As long as we have to share the planet with people this dumb I fear we are doomed, though in this case we won't have to share for too long.

Article about the amazing success of the 1960's Gepards against Shahed class drones, I should honor it with it's full name Flugabwehrkanonenpanzer Gepard ("anti-aircraft-gun tank 'Cheetah'") I was surprised how big the ammo is and how big the Shaheds actually are, they need to be with a substantial 90kg warhead.

More details on operation spiderweb.

Interesting details

The drones had two bar shaped charges each designed to fire downwards.

A pro-Ukraine mole was operating a logistics company in Russia. He and his company where important in hiring drivers and moving trucks around Russia.

The control signal for the drones used the Russian cell phone network.

The drones had a simple AI, trained on museum aircraft in Ukraine that took over if the signal broke down.

When the AI is controlling the drone, the word Failsafe appears in red on the screen.

The trucks were moved into Russia via Kazakhstan, no doubt hiding in plain sight among the sanction busting traffic.
