A friend is based in Jayapura - West Papua is still the wilds.
The fact that Kopassas have been trained by SAS soldiers is embarrassing. They couldn't even spell human rights.

Their brutality in East Timor is apparently legendary.

RE Irian Jaya, it's guarded so jealously by the Indonesians because of its gold reserves.

East Timor does have oil/gas reserves offshore, but Indonesians tend to regard it as being significantly less valuable than Irian Jaya.
