Players are human beings so have generally react like normal people, i think hes a little more then just a footballer.

I was talking about the 36 other players (I though you guys axed/retired about 10 players this year.......).

Besides if they were true friends they would be happy that he gets to play for the team that he wants to play at.

Has anyone noticed that this is the exact same situation as the attempted Thornton trade in 06?

Back then the Hawks had pick 6 and 24 just as Carlton do now.

Thornton had said he wanted to leave Carlton and play for the Hawks.

Carlton wanted pick 6 and Hawks would only offer 24.

Carlton had the higher PSD pick and threatened to redraft Thornton just as Freo have. It was also a very strong draft that year.

In the end Thornton had to re-sign as Carlton would have Redrafted him in the PSD.

The one difference is that this is an interstate move.

Still, it makes Carlton look a little stupid. Expecting to get Warnock for just 24 when they wouldn't take 24 for Thornton.

Warnock would be alot more valuable than Thornton in 06 you would think.

I hope we don't get him as I think there may be something better available at pick 24. And Freeo are dreaming if they think a guy they couldn't find a spot in their best 22 most weeks is worth pick 6!!! I mean Kepler Bradley was picked ahead of him most weeks!!

I'd rather the Blues put some serious time into developing Hampson and Jacobs. And potential ruckmen from other clubs don't always work out. Was Cam Wood swapped for #14 and he can't get a game ahead of Chris Bryan ? what about John Meeson? If we get Warnock of #24 there better not be anyone better taken after that pick or I'll be expecting heads on pikes in Royal Parade.

If Warnock is such a superstar, how come we passed on him in the draft a few years ago, before we had Hammo or Big K when we were screaming out for a developing ruckman. Carlton needs a tough seasoned ruckman now, to protect our young rucks. We don't need another beanpole who might be good in 4 years.

I disagree. Thornton is a walk-up selection every week. But anyway, the difference is Carlton back then couldn't afford to lose Thornton. - He was the only tall defender on our list. I think you guys offered up pick 24 and 30 (the Everitt pick) in the end, which was acceptable. But we just weren't prepared to trade him full-stop.

Oh furn, its time you stopped drinking from your grand final win, thornton had played 100 games at that stage and was our number 1 backmen, Warnock is a number 2 ruckman with 20 games to his name, bit of a difference.

number 1 backman in the worst defence in the games history.

Your offering Warnock alot more money than we offered Thornton.

Are you saying you wouldn't swap THornton for Warnock if Freo asked for him ???

And Keps was originally taken at Pick 6. Creepy.

The stars are aligning.

I just wish this whole Warnock situation is resolved. It's frustrating reading the same thing over and over again about how Carlton won't move on pick 24 and Fremantle want that and something. In the end Carlton is going to give us something better because they desperately want him. If they didnt they would have given up by now just like they did with O'Keefe. Come on Carlton lift your game!

*shakes head* some people never learn.

lol alternately, Fremantle will eventually realise it's actually a pretty fair trade, and accept

2 sides to every story isn't there

Yeah, and Carlton's side is wrong.

Why should Freo accept your pick 24 when they have our pick 19 or possibly 17 waiting in the wings? Carlton are not trying hard enough, good on Bond and Harvey for standing their ground.

edit: having said that, i'm starting to tire of Warnock carrying on like a whiny baby and i don't really care where he ends up.

Its a win win situation with Warnock for the Blues. If we get him for pick 24 then great but if not then we get a really good kid in the draft with pick 24. Its really is that simple!

Freo could however and most likely will lose Warnock for nothing.

So theres absolutely no pressure on Carlton over this issue and no reason at all for us to budge more than pick 24.

How do you know you are going to get a really good kid at 24? With trading you know what you are getting.

Y'know, if it hadn't been pointed out exactly 479 times already (I counted) I'd say that Melbourne would be insane to offer anything when they can pick him up for free in the PSD.

But it has so I won't.

That could most definitely happen.
However its Carlton that want Robbie, Freo don't necissarily want to trade him there and from what most people can gather they want more than just pick 24 for him. Therefore if Carlton want him as bad as most people think they do then they will have to come up with a better deal.

If Carlton aren't desperate to get him, why is it that they've spent the entire week trying to get him?

If 24 is as good as their offer gets, then they need to realise it's not good enough and walk away.

Like you say, nothing lost for them, and Fremantle and Warnock can get on with getting him home.

All Carlton are doing now is holding up the any possibility of any trade.

its getting to the stage now where carlton may have to move on.

They have placed a value on Warnock at pick 24. They may be willing to offer a sweetner to that...but wont go higher than 2nd round pick.

Carlton have 3 ruckmen that will hold up. Perhaps they have to show they are willing to walk away.

If they do not value Warnock at more than pick 24, time to move on....cant see why mediation would come into it.

Also if we are looking on the bright side ...at least your ruck division in 2009 will not slip any further down the ruck ladder regardless of the outcome (until GC come in and then you may go down 1 more place to 17th).

Tell Warnock, let us move on and tell Cloke he had better do a big pre-season as if your number 1 ruck (what is he 30th in the league?) gets hurt ...it is going to be a very long season.

If the Blues offer pick 24 and a player ie Luke Blackwell - the deal will be done!
