Looks alright, doesn't fill me with anticipation. There are few really poorly rendered indoor environments in that trailer though that look like they were taken directly from a 90s video game, and I can't tell if it's a creative decision or if it's just early version they're using for the trailer.

This isn't just any old video game movie. This movie has thousands of years worth of lore. This movie didn't get off the ground for ages because blizzard wanted it done right. Blizzard aren't schmucks, they take pride in there work and like their games it will show in this movie.
Blizzard can't write stories for shit, same as every other video game developer. Even 'good' video game plots make shitty movies because the mediums are completely different. And Blizzard don't make games with good plots.

I like the games as much as anyone, but the Blizzard fanbois have to get a reality check on this one.

I think they've just selected poorly and written weak adaptations. The first Resident Evil was great, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat were fun and nailed the campy tone brilliantly. Max Payne could have been great but they ****ed it up, everything else not so much. Need for Speed... wtf was that.

Last of Us could make an amazing movie, as could Red Dead Redemption.

Wow. You are the first person I have ever seen with a positive opinion on these movies. I have not seen SF but loved MK. Apparently I am nuts. :s

They are awesome in the same way Commando and Predator are. The story and acting are rubbish no doubt but heaps of fun and that's what action movies should be and what modern ones have lost.

Yeah I love the first Mortal Kombat film. I can't remember the second too much though.

"Too bad you.... will diiieee."

This was always going to be canned be critics. Who takes critic reviews seriously these days anyway..?

Fans of the games are saying its a good adaptation and a good movie so I'll listen to those familiar with Warcraft.

Ok fanboi

Ignore all the critics and listen to the hardcore fans is pretty stupid.

i can't remember the last time I've ever agreed with the opinion of critics. It's not so much just taking hardcore fans opions, it's being a Warcraft fan, id take the opinions of fans who understand it over a critics view of a movie they know nothing about.

If fans like it, there's a much better chance me as a fan will enjoy it, compared to some w***er critic.

Given how much they've spent on it though, they NEED non-Warcraft players to like it. If they want to make more movies, they need non-Warcraft players to like it. If they don't, then this'll probably be the first and last.

I'm sure I'm not the only one, but I've got a group going to see this, two of us are Warcraft players and the others aren't. Plus I'm a believer word of mouth holds more weight than critic reviews. If Warcraft fans enjoy it and can tell / take friends along to see it, the movie will be fine. Critic reviews don't hold any weight IMO.

I like reading critics but you're right about word of mouth being strong. It does need to be embraced by everyone though, like I said. Given it's called "The Beginning" they're obviously planning a franchise.

I agree they need to draw in an audience of more than just Warcraft fans, that'll be mostly word of mouth if it happens I think. I just don't think the majority of movie goers will be swayed by poor critic reviews.

I hope it does well so they can go ahead with the franchise.

Won myself tickets to the launch screening of this at IMAX on Tuesday. Never been to IMAX before so can't wait.
