Do you have stats on game time spent at centre clearances???? I would think that Selwoods opportunities are far greater then Gibbs yet only leads by 19, Also stats on playing and shutting done oppositions best players etc, just to be fair to Gibbs thats all...compare direct opponents stats and effectiveness. While i agree that Selwood had a much better 1st year then Gibbs, both players efforts this year are pretty much on par.
Looking at their respective stats for the year Gibbs averages more kicks than Selwood, but less handballs and overall about 4 less disposals a game this year. Selwood ave. 24 touches a game for 388 in total for the year, while Gibbs averages a tick under 20 for 315 disposals for the year.
However, i think you are underplaying Gibbs ball winning efforts, particularly in the middle...Of Selwoods 388 disposals 125 are contested possessions, which is 32% of his disposals. Compared that to Gibbs contested possessions of 102 from 315 disposals for the year, that also equates to 32%....interesting.
Selwood has laid 55 tackles to Gibbs 52.
And even though they both win the same amount on contested footy, Gibbs' disposal efficiency is 77.98% for the year, compared to Selwoods 75.36%.
The stat Selwood gets Gibbs in, is the centre clearances. Selwood has 56 clearances to Gibbs 37. However on the flipside Gibbs has done more damage on the scoreboard having kicked 11 goals to Selwood 4.
I guess id be pretty happy with Gibbs and his current season to date.
