Hardie reckons Freo want Carlton's first round pick and Carlton are the only club that can afford the 4 year 400k deal.

We'd be able to get two of the following: Hartlett, Hurley, Zeibell,

Would set us up beautifully for the next few years.
 
I don't think that's what's gonna happen. 2nd rounder and a young player is the best we can chase. However, all this might force Melbourne to give us their PP [17] or 2nd rounder [19] if they really want him. I'd be happy with either of them.

I'm fairly sure Chris Newman isn't one of the standout young ruckmen in the league, who has already been nursed through three years of development. I'm also pretty sure he's not one of the only men to stand at 206cm tall and retain the co-ordination and skill of a six footer while being able to run down and tackle midfielders.
 
Pick 6 for Warnock? :D Swann and Icke won't entertain that deal.
If he chooses Carlton as his preferred club, it may be the Judd scenario over again.
Deal with Carlton or risk losing him to the Demons via the psd.
Pick 24 will be on the table, no question, maybe Blackwell as a sweetener.
FWIW i'm not fussed if he doesn't get to Carlton.
Interesting times ahead.

Hardie didnt say that.

He said that Freo could get Blues first rounder and based it on the Blues offering that money. Never said that you want that or the Blues have offered it. Once again Brad showing how little he knows about certain areas of footy - sometimes he lives in the dark and is totally illogical (why i dont bother listening to them normally).

If he went in the draft this year, he'd go top 10 for sure. He is a rare talent.

Rich plays nothing like Drew Banfield

If you knew anything about what junior players show on a regular basis in their first full year at WAFL level then you would know that Rich has had an above average year - far better than that of Chris Masten, Brad Ebert, Cale Morton ect

Combine Rich's ability in the clearances (better than Masten & Ebert) and his ridiculously good kicking and you have a champion. He is the highest quality onballer I have seen as an underage player - thats from watching him 10+ times now over the past 2 years.

as a 17 yearold in the colts he was averaging close to 23 disposals & 3 goals per game as a pure midfielder, WAFL level this year (hard enough for an 18 year old + U18 games) he is averaging 15 disposals and 1.2 goals per game while dealing with his first tag. When you slaughter the opposition with every kick then I would consider this to be 'elite'

Put Rich up against the likes of Bartel, Ball, Hodge, Gibbs, Murphy, Selwood ect and he compares much more favourably at the same age.

He will be an elite onaballer, he is the total package.

If it's a sweetener, Blackwell aint gonna cut it......Browne on the other hand may get you a 206cm ruckman!

He doesn't look to have a lot of upside though. Ryley Dunn, who Fremantle drafted in 2003, was a two time All Australian and dominated against players his age because he was physically much more developed. But when he came up against men he looked average. Rich has more tools than Dunn but there are some similarities.

Ebert, Masten, Morton etc were built like kids. Rich is already built like an AFL player and isn't standing out at WAFL level. Sure his endurance will improve at AFL level but whether he becomes a champion or just a good honest player is the $64,000 question.

the leverage is the dee's and if warnock is also happy to go there. Then a bidding war ensues. He is worth the dee's PP 18 or whatever it is. Being greater than Carltons 24, your lot may have to offer better. But again, this depends on how keen warnock is to go the blues. If he is happy to go to the dees as a 2nd preference and not dig his heels in, then freo may win out. Its also important to remember that carlton have offered pick 24 straight up for him. You have shown your hand as a starting point. Now freo will say we want 'x' (being better than 24), and thus you compromise. I hope freo dont get screwed by the blues out of all this, Warnock will be a very good player.

He's being serious. Warnock doesn't have a highlight real to speak of.

He's only played a handful of games for Freo.
Your best bet would be to find a few freo games where he's played and watch them the whole way through.
