i admit i don't know alot about Warnock however i am not as excited by this as some others. We already have two very talented ruck prospects. what we need is a ready made ruckman who can fill the position to help us with a finals push for 09. From what i heard Warnock is still very much developing and has only played 21 games. what is so exciting about him that would make him worth anymore than our 4th round pick?

Would you trade Hampson for a 4th rounder?

that wasn't the question. I just haven't heard it from anyone but your CEO (is swan ceo) and your captain.

What did Juddy say?

All I saw was Swann suggesting why Warnock may have nominated Carlton, not confirming that he had.

Greg Denham is the only one running with the story so far and there has been no official word from Warnock or his manager yet AFAIK

has anyone heard warnock or his manager say that he nominates carlton
according to afl.com and various other sites colin young admitted to 'the australian' that his client (warnock) has nominated carlton.

also, greg swann (our CEO) talked about warnocks decision to come to carlton. that was the main indicator to me

Its cool. When gibbs is out of contract in a couple of years. All Adelaide or Port will have to offer is a 4th rounder.

Because, you know, he wants to go home, he'll get a bigger slice of the pie, and thats his preferred destination.

I mean seriously, its his preferred destination. Why wouldn't Carlton just bend over?

Love how you are bagging people mate, they might be underselling the issue but you sure as hell oversell it. The trades i've seen you put forward for Warnock are ridiculous, Browne and pick 24, please.

Mate i'll give you the tip - either one is good enough for us. ;)

Am i the only one who thinks that matty Kruez showed more than enough in his first season to suggest that his is the player we want to be the number 1 ruckmen for the club for the next 10+ years. Yeah fair enough he can go forward and kick a goal, and he will be very useful in that role but that will just be another feather in the cap of our number one ruckmen but really i would much prefer someone with the athletic ability of matty and the skills of a midfielder we would use him to full potential. so i think all this talk of matty being our CHF is a bit silly. really we used our pick 1 on him as we felt he would be a 10 year plus ruckmen. really if we wanted a CHF we could have traded for nearly any other CHF in the league but we went for matty and rightfully so. yeah i would be keen to get robbie warnock if he come at right price but his role should be as a tap ruckmen to give Kruez a chop out or when he goes forward but lets be serious to ourselves we much more need matty to become the a grade ruckmen we drafted him to become not a pinch hitting forward (ie a ruckmen that goes forward not a forward that pinchs hits in the ruck). and all this talk of holding on to hammer before shipping him off to GC....rubbish you dont sign a player up for 3 years after one year on the list if you are not keen to hang on to him. the club are obviously that keen on him thats why they did it. we finally get our ruck stocks in order and people want to ship him off. with warnock we know what we are getting a quality tap ruckmen with reasonable skills, with kruez we have a great tap ruckmen, with exception skills and athleticism and ability. I think for next year cloke forward if he can prove to MC that he is deserving of a spot in forward line and give a chop out in ruck. Warnock should be seen as someone to compliment our current ruck stocks and help us overturn our hit-out deficiency. Yeah we need to protect Krueze from becoming another Josh Fraiser but no doubt about it it is Krueze is the man i want leading our ruck department for next decade and nothing would please me more than if Hammer was to be his partner.

With Kruezer he is such an agile bigman, with a great kick at goal, I'd honestly prefer him roaming around at CHF, with Hammer and Warnock as the main pinch hitters at the ruck ?
Seriously Kruezer's natural ability and instincts are sensational for such a big man, and I think it would be a shame for him to spend most of his career in the ruck, when he could be such a potennt force at CHF, esp with Hammer and Warnock doing the rucking duties ..

Just food for thought ..

You DO know Hampson was #17 in a strong draft don't you?

Dean Cox was a rookie selection. Aaron Sandilands was a rookie selection. Josh Frasier was pick 1.

Once your drafted its all about how you develop.

Warnock > Hampson, even your club thinks so, otherwise why would they trade for him?

Point is some of the ridiculous suggestions here are laughable, 3rd or 4th rounders aren't going to cut it.

Even a 2nd rounder isn't enough. His value sits somewhere between your 1st rounder and your 2nd rounder.

I have been accused of being unrealistic, trades i've put forward:

1. Warnock + pick 21 = Pick 6 + Armfield.

2. Carlton lose: pick 6 + pick 24, gain: Warnock + pick 10.

3. 2x 2nd rounders

4. 2nd, 3rd and 4th round selection.

Substitute Hampson into the above trades in Warnock's place. Put the shoe on the other foot. Remember that Warnock has shown a hell of a lot more. I do realise Hampson has only had 2 seasons where Warnock has had 3. At the end of his 2nd season Warnock was leading the ruck and doing well.

IMO number 3 will be most likely, or number 4.

rgauci you are dreaming mate.
you will take pick 24, or you will lose him for nothing, and we hold onto pick 24, win/ win for us.
but 24 will get it done for sure.
you are fremantle remember.

How is retaining pick 24 a win for you, unless you draft a star at pick 24? If you retain pick 24 and Warnock ends up being a better player than whoever you take at 24 you have lost.

Melbourne are still in the mix. If you guys offer a crap deal Warnock will agree to a trade to the Demons because he knows that if a deal isn't done he'll end up at Melbourne anyway and he'll be stuck in limbo until the PSD in December. He has also said that he and his manager will ensure that Fremantle get a reasonable deal.

Let's say hypothetically all Carlton are offering is pick 24 with a few hours left in trade week. Fremantle will go to Melbourne and say look, Carlton are only offering pick 24, how about you trade us pick 19? Melbourne will say no thanks we'll take him in the PSD for nothing. Fremantle will say no, either offer pick 19 or we'll reluctantly take 24 from the Blues. Melbourne will then realise that he's easily worth pick 19 and put it on the table, then you guys have to better that offer which you will considering there is a 200 game big man on the tabe (injuries permitting).

Pick 24 and another pick in the late 20's (or an equivalent player) is a fair deal. You retain pick 6 and everyone's happy.

you are fremantle remember.

But Connolly, Schwab and Icke, the clowns that traded away all our picks, aren't at the club anymore. :thumbsu: :thumbsu:

Warnock is worth alot more than just pick 24 I think he is potentially more promising than Kruz (who I think looks a star)
