I like Hampson, but it's a laugh if you think Hammer is going to take the marks you're bagging Warnock for dropping.

Even Kreuzer was failing to hold his marks last night.

Agree none of our big guys could take a mark overhead against Bombers.

It was just a shock to see only 1 arm go up.

We always thought Warnock was lazy, but it's a fact that the huge 200+cm ruckmen take time to develop.
(this i think was Freo's logic in picking up Kepler Bradley:rolleyes:)
Sandilands only started to stick marks last year, at age 26, and he still drops a lot that he should take.
Sandi has 123 games experience, and for a long time centre-bounce taps were all he was good for, and it has been well documented that his taps rarely went to advantage back then.
Freo put a few pre-seasons into Warnock, and 25 games experience, but it'll take a while yet before he steps up IMHO.

Personally, I'm pissed that Warnock left us. His height and agility are enormous attributes and given a few years on the park I reckon he'll be a gun :thumbsu:.
Voice of reason, good post.

He's equal second tallest ruck EVER (that i can think of). Tied with Harry Madden who was given the boot by the Dons before having a very good career with us.

As Purple Sox points out Sandilands has finally got it together only in the last year. There's plenty of water to go under the bridge yet.

Saying that, the amount of footy and training he's missed it wouldn't be a negative thing for him to get a few games of confidence in the magoos and give Jacobs a crack.

what he said !

I'm all for giving Warnock time ... but, I think last night showed us that we need someone who's a little more "AFL ready". In the first 2 rounds it was covered by the fact that Kreuzer was doing so well. But last night showed that Warnock isn't ready to step up and fill the hole when Kreuzer is having an off night.

I think Jacobs showed more in the early games that he played last year, so you'd have to think that he is more ready than Warnock at this stage.

I fully expect Warnock to step up eventually, but he couldn't feel like he's been hard done by with the club showing faith in him for the first 3 rounds. Surely he'd understand (and perhaps even be happy with) being asked to go back to the 2's to gain some confidence.

What's the point of having 3 No. 2 ruckmen if you aren't going to rotate them through the seniors to inspire one another to better things?

Agree, particularly if Jacobs has played well in the Bullants. With increased depth, players have to see that being dropped to the ants is an opportunity to find form and confidence, as well as rewarding those who perform well.

For the next game I'd like to see the Ins - Judd, Bower and Jacobs and the corresponding Outs - McLean (if injured), Walker and Warnock.

Warnock is very inexperienced ruckman only played 23 games, that is baby status in terms of experience. If people are expecting Warnock to preform consistently this year and even next, they are delusional. It just doesnt happen unless you are a freak. And Warnock certainly aint no freak!!!

Give Jacobs a go , or keep on playing Warnock, we have four ruckman one will certainly leave at the end of the season.

Some of you blokes should really watch the replay.

He didn't hesitate to throw the body in.

He works so hard, harder than our smalls, and therefore is always recieving it when other players should. It's not his fault he's one of the few working for position. Then we curse at him when his disposal lets the team down. No-one would bother running behind for the handball either.

He was still content to get on his knees and do the dirty work in the absence of our inside mids.

Fair enough needs to get his marking in check, a bit more spring into his legs as well.
But for two years out of the game with stress fractures and the like.

Stick with him.

I agree completely with everything you said. He also needs to beef up a bit because he seems to get pushed around a little bit in the ruck. It will also help him in a body-on-body marking contest. Putting on the beef will take time and coming back from being out of the game for 2 years will take time. Maybe he does need to take a few weeks off in the 2's. It could do him well. If Hampson is not fit then Jacobs should be given a gig.

I may of sugested only haveing kreuzer rucking and get O'halpin to ruck a bit while kreuzer is having a break so we can get setants into the game a bit more. But after seeing hawthorn fail at it with Renouf, i dont think it will be a good idea.
