Spot on, King Elvis. It's all BF bravado at this time of year anyway. None of us have any idea as to what trades will get done and for what amount, so we are all making our guesses based on our own opinions.

Not many clubs gets screwed over deliberately. Sometimes in hindsight it looks that way, but at the time the trades looked fine. Collingwood fans were screaming blue murder when Medhurst was traded to them as part of the Tarrant trade, but it doesn't look quite so bad for them now.

Whatever happens, happens. I'd think we'd do a straight swap for pick 12-18, but we may take just pick 24. Hell, we might even do worse than that. All we can do is wait and see.

Can tell you that WARNOCK and CALTON are far far from striking a deal.
Calrton can satisfy warnocks $$$ he wants however they cant and wont satisfy freo, get ready freo to accept pick 19 from melbourne for robbie warnock.this is why bailey and co along with warnock have stayed off the media.the only person that had said warnock prefers calton is his maNAGER all on purpose.

This sounds believable.

Sounds believable cos we want to believe it.

I'd like to know the source - or at least a bit more info to be sure this bloke's not just making it up. Is Warnock really interested in looking after Freo, and if so - how do we know for sure he'll accept playing for Melbourne ATEOTD. I know I wouldn't if I were in his position...

What we need is the Saints and / or Richmond to weigh in with their first rounders.

Saints are without a real ruckman that can step in and play for the next few years while they are premiership mode (Blake is crap, King is old and Gardiner will prob be delisted). They miss this chance over the next couple of years and they might find the window has slammed shut on them - just like it did to us. Pick 12, to them, may very well be worth parting with to get a young guy capable of holding down the ruck, with still an shyteload of upside in him.

Richmond will be entering Premiership mode within the next couple of years, Simmonds will be long gone, and any others they have are a long way off. Might pick 8 just be worth it for Wallet to keep his job and convince the Tiger mob that they're getting close?? Pick 8 and a swap of second rounders would probably get the trade done quick smart. Warnock and 21 for 8 and 26. :thumbsu:

But really the above is just another rumour posted on BF - why is it more believable than Warnock for pick 24 - full stop end of story - from Carlton? Pick 19 is only 5 picks better than 24.

If he does go to the Dees, I hope we get 17 + a sweetener; maybe pick 51 (their 4th rounder).

How is this news?

At the end of the day, all parties have to agree to the trade or he goes for nothing into the PSD to the team that can meet his contract demands......most likely Essendon or Carlton (3 interstaters ruled out - would be foolish to take him given his reasons for leaving, Dees broke).

Its great to talk about the Doggies, Saints etc, and IF Warnock is happy to go to them then you'll get your higher pick (although that would mean a first rounder form these guys - seems unlikely).

If he doesn't want to go to anyone but the Blues then its simple.
Deal with us or lose him to someone else for nothing.:thumbsu:

Last year you had the 2nd pick in the PSD and West Coast played finals so you obviously had the PSD as leverage. But I love the fact that the player you are poaching 12 months later is coming from a side that finished lower than you and has a truckload of cap space but you think that you can still use the PSD as a bargaining chip.

If Carlton's trade offer isn't acceptable the 3 interstaters don't have to be willing to pick Warnock in the PSD. Aslong as he thinks we might pick him that is good enough and he'll agree to a trade to any Victorian club. What would you prefer, being traded to Richmond/Saint Kilda next week, or spent two months waiting for the PSD with the possibility that you'll end up back at Fremantle?

And if Warnock tells Port, Fremantle or West Coast not to pick him because he'll only play for a Victorian club then that's draft tampering and he'll probably be de-registered.

If Warnock goes to the Dees it would be via the PSD why make the team u are going to waste a pick in the National Draft to get u... makes no sense.

He would want the club he goes to be as strong as possible especially if Freo prevented him going to Carlton.

This has the hallmarks as a stuff up for freo

Because if you only offer pick 24 Melbourne can either offer pick 19 which is still a very good deal or we'll reluctantly accept your pick 24 if there isn't a better offer.

If Warnock is happy to play for Melbourne he'd rather be traded to them because trading starts in 6 days and the PSD is 9 weeks away. A lot can change in 9 weeks so Warnock would think the sooner the better.

If Warnock realises freo are going to make it tough for him to go to Carlton then he aint gunna do you any favours

if freo refuse pick 24 because 19 is better than warnock will just nominate for the psd and get to melbourne anyway whilst freo get nothing

My god, why are carlton fans so deluded and bloody stupid? Do you think you can get everything for free?

If Warnock desperately wants to go to Carlton and we look like losing him for nothing, we'll probably take the deal.

If he is a bit so so, doesn't mind either way, we can threaten Carlton with letting him walk or taking Pick 19/whatever from Melbourne and thats that.

See? You won't get him for cheap.. no way jose.. so grow up out of your patheticness and realise that you aren't bottom anymore.

Some time ago when I read this Geelong posters insistance that Warnock wanted to play at Melbourne I sent him a PM, as my club sources told me that Carlton were leading the race. Two days later the news broke that his preference was Carlton, albeit through his manager. This poster never acknowleged my PM.

The best hope for Freo and Melbourne is Carlton pursuing O'Keefe, as I'm sure they don't have the salary cap room for both.

That said, I don't want him, not for pick 19 anyway. I know how talented he is, but there's still no cast iron guarantee how he'll turn out. Unless they're 'one out of the box' I don't rate ruckman all that highly. As Renouf and Campbell showed on the weekend, and Jolly, etc before them, you don't need star ruckmen to win flags.

I hope we keep our draft picks.

The key point that you & other Fremantle fans overlook is that from a Carlton perspective they will be happy to give up pick 24 for a player who has yet to establish himself as a regular senior AFL player, l would suggest that a early second round pick is not unreasonable for a 20 game player.

If a first round pick is required, it will not come from Carlton as he has simply not done enough to justify a first round pick, particuarly when players of the calibre of Okeefe & Kerr are likely to be in the marketplace next week.

Whether you like it or not, any player that is out of contract leaves there club not in a position of strength, and Fremantle only have themselves to blame for allowing him to come out of contract.

If the PSD was a week after trade week I'd agree with you. But if he waits for the PSD he's essentially unemployed for 9 weeks and pushes his preparation for next season back. It's unlikely but what if he has a car accident between now and the PSD? Or what if he does a knee?

And if Melbourne come to the table with pick 19 Warnock will do his best to convince Carlton to find a player or another pick to go with pick 24.

But you can only have 1 or 2 specialist ruckmen in the 22. Lets say Naitanui's drafted by the Eagles. If Cox and Seaby are playing well Naitanui will struggle to get a run in the ruck in 2009. So does that mean pick 24 for Naitanui's a fair deal in 12 months time?

The key point that you and other Carlton fans overlook is that there is a variety of good reasons why Warnock has not established himself as a regular in the seniors and that at this stage of his career, that is not a bad thing at all.

Warnock came to Freo as pick number 42 in the 2005 draft. At the time, he had not finished growing and had a body fat percentage that would pitch Memories' tent. He did not play in 2006 as Fremantle were flying, with a very formidable ruck combination of Aaron Sandilands and Justin Longmuir, as well as the fact that he was not physically ready to go anywhere near the hardened professional athletes of the AFL.

In 2007, Longmuir broke down early in the season and ended up succumbing to a chronic knee condition for the rest of the season. Warnock had improved physically, but was still going to struggle against the bigger bodies in the firsts so a spring heeled 189cm tall flanker in Daniel Gilmore was thrust into the ruck before him to protect Warnock's long term future, which was already identified as being incredibly bright. However, when Sandilands could no longer battle on with a troublesome groin, we were left with no choice but to throw Warnock in at the deep end. He battled admirably for a skinny lad fighting out of his weight division and improved as the season went on. He still struggled physically to match it with the big men, but his obvious talent shone through and Fremantle fans far and wide were left salivating over his uncanny ability at ground level, athleticism and marking ability.

During the 2008 pre season, Warnock struggled with injury and had a delayed start to the season. He was rested for much of the pre season as he wasn't match fit and had to catch up to the rest of the group's fitness. He played in the WAFL early on mainly to help with his conditioning, however he was not performing well enough to force his way into the team. There were rumours that he felt he deserved a place in the seniors (and that's all they were: rumours), but the match committee held fast because Sandilands was performing very well by himself and his elite fitness meant he did not need to be rested much. After Warnock kicked it up a notch, he was brought in to help out Sandilands. Warnock was solid as a back up ruckman and again showed flashes of what he could do, but was trying to get game time from a giant All Australian ruckman in top form. Playing as a back up does not do his enormous talent justice so it didn't shine through as much as it should have. As I have suggested in another thread though, watch the Fremantle v Essendon game at Subi this year for a good example of just how talented the lad is. 17 disposals that day as a back up ruckman spending plenty of time on the pine. Then towards the end of the season, Warnock was sent for surgery to fix a nagging shoulder (?) injury and didn't play again.

Alright, now you know his life story. The lad is talented to the max. He will be a dominant number one ruckman in years to come and will probably only take a year or two to grow into the role. He is 21 and has been used sparingly thus far, he is looking at ten more years at the top at least. He runs, chases, tackles, handles the ball well in traffic, incredibly below his knees and marks very strongly above his head. He is 206cm tall and ready to come into his prime and start fulfilling his potential. He is VERY highly rated by all of the coaching staff at Fremantle and Harvey, Bond et al were devastated by the news he wanted to go to Victoria (note: Victoria. Not necessarily Carlton). Bond was even quoted as saying that Warnock was a player he was looking to build the list around.

We are pissed off that he's going and for an army of flogs who haven't seen him play to come in here and start shooting their mouths off about how he isn't worth anything because he hasn't proven himself, you're doing us a favour by giving us a shithouse offer and that you will pick him up in the pre season draft if we don't play by your rules is arrogant, insulting, vain, stupid, ignorant and a key reason why I am beginning to hate Carlton.

I have posted this for the benefit of any flogs who feel the need to shoot their mouths off in the aforementioned fashion. To you, I ask that if you feel like spouting that crap take it to a board where people care. You are wrong and you need to get a clue.
