Japan's nuclear power industry was pretty much in it's infancy when they started building Fukushima.

Over 50 years hence to the present day and they would have learnt nothing and if given the choice, would build it in exactly the same location to the same design.

Good grief.
s**t happens hey
Not my fault its only a nuclear power plant we werent expecting that

So Mundine gets a $550,000 grant from the government for a TV show and meanwhile they cut the funding ($310K)for specialist service visiting lonely older LGBTI Victorians?

In late December, the federal government told LGBTI support service Switchboard that it would lose two-thirds of its funding under the Community Visitors Scheme (CVS). The CVS aims to reduce loneliness among those in residential or community-based aged care by funding visits from volunteers.

Do you reckon the funding for Mundine's program and the LGBTI switchboard comes from the same pot of money?

Did they completely remove the funding or did they for instance, move it over to the generic switchboard that everyone can use? Instead of having separate services, they've just consolidated?

I don't watch Sky News, it's pretty much garbage, can you give me an idea of what Mundine's show is about? Is it actually a stand alone program or a segment within another program?

Is it Indigenous focused or just a general information sort of a program?

If you don't know, I'm guessing someone else will be able to answer the question.

Labor should agree to the LNP proposal of no retrospectivity, just to get it up and running ASAP...then after the election, change the parameters to retrospectivity. LNP won't have the numbers in the House or Senate to stop it + it will give them something to wedge the LNP...particularly Joyce and co over the MDB fiasco.

You're having a laugh if you'd think anything remotely like this would ever happen.

If there's a number of things the political parties are bipartisan on, it's pay rises and I believe this would be another. Mentioning Joyce and Murray-Darling is very short sighted, let's go back as far as any evidence leads us and nail the whole lot of them.

High house prices and negative gearing is another area, they're all in it up to their gills with investment properties, they might talk tough, but if you think either side is committed to making any meaningful changes to the status quo then I've got a nice bridge to sell you. There will be some nibbling around the edges, but in the end it will largely be cosmetic and nothing more.

Once they open the door the only way it doesn't get to a full blown witch hunt is if they shut it down.

Will be like the banking RC.

Our country desperately needs a full blown witch hunt into politicians.
Scum like Pauline Hanson will have nowhere to hide.

Which councils and state govts have supported this?

Last I heard state govts were fighting this bloody hard

They are, hence saying I'm in favour if it. I know the Shire of Leonora in WA were dead keen on it, they even threw at least two sites into the ring for nuclear waste but missed out to somewhere in rural SA iirc.

The LNP don't want it, I don't know what Shorten and the ALP's thoughts are on it, I'd be very surprised if they want one.

I'd be very surprised if any of then got around to ever establishing one. Crooks and cowards.

Labor leader Bill Shorten made the pledge to establish a federal version of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) in a speech to the National Press Club in January, and said there was a need to ensure potential corruption in politics and the public service was properly investigated.

Thanks.

They'll win the election in a canter so we'll see if anything comes of it.

So, we have the largest reserves of Thorium in the world. Why in the hell aren't we at the forefront of fast-tracking the technology and building the bloody things?
Coal fuels the Liberal Party.
The same reason we are not at the forefront of all modern energy sources.
