*en brilliant movie.

Nolte was ******* awesome. Underrated role. Hardy was an absolute gun.

'' I think I like you better when you were a drunk ''

Love the tension between Tommy and his brother. Nolte to Tommy

'' you get something through that skull of yours. You brought me here. So don't go threatening to walk every 5 god damn minutes ''

Awesome movie. In my top 20.

I’m not a combat sports fan at all, but this was a very enjoyable movie to watch. The quality of the acting is what elevates this.

Only saw it recently after continually hearing good things, and Hardy, Nolte and Edgerton absolutely nail their roles. That scene at the pokies, and the follow up in their hotel room, absolutely brilliant.

What I also enjoyed was seeing the technical aspects of their fighting styles explored. Hardy was sheer brute force, he pummeled his opponents within seconds.

But Edgerton had a very different style, being able to withstand his opponents best blows, wear them down and then finish them off with pinning them down etc. Highly recommend this film, great viewing.

This is arguably one of the greatest quintessential father-son bonding movies you will ever see.

I thought Hardy would win it and give the money to his "army brother".

That final fight scene was amazing.

The journey they all took bonded a broken family.

Another scene worth mentioning was when Nolte saw his grandkids from outside on the front lawn, looking into the front door. But the door is then closed on him, leaving him isolated. Brutal stuff.

This movie has many of those moments where it hits you hard.

That early fight scene too in the gym with Hardy and that mad dog character. Absolutely pummeled him, the choreography on that was savage.

As powerful as when Hardy was throwing coins at his dad in the casino, as if he was some bum off the street.

Then Nolte getting off the wagon and drinking again and being abusive to his son in the bedroom.

I liked earlier in the movie when the son rocks up and gets angry and starts laughing in a put down manner that his dad wont share a drink with him. Gives a small insight as to how bad their childhood was.

It isnt just martial arts movie, its a very moving powerful drama. I could almost argue the fights are the backdrop to a family trying to heal individually and together.

All time movie. The soundtrack too, the final scene with the slight shift on the National song to the rear naked choke and the gentle tap legit makes me well up every time and I’m not much of a cryer
Absolutely Brilliant.

Also Nolte is like fine wine. Get's better with age. Sublime acting performance.

Its a religious experience for me. I watch it ever so carefully and in peace. Great pick me up movie.
Yep agreed Grott is'a s pearler. End song is awesome as phantom mentioned. I didn't realise how good it was until the last couple of months. And how good the end scene is. It's right up there.

Tom Hardy playing poker machines on the eve of his final fight lol. Glory be.

Yes it has many epic scenes.

I love it when the fighter in the gym gives him crap about being like Rocky Balboa lol.

Awesome movie. Based on the bump I'm guessing someone else excitedly clicked on the warrior TV show thread thinking it was this. I did the same yesterday. Was sad but happy again now this is bumped and full of quotes.

Tommy to his dad "must be hard to find a girl that can take a punch these days".

Coach Beethoven "you popped his shoulder? Good. Now pop the other one".

All three main main actors delivered in this movie. Nolte was brilliant. But dont underestimate Hardy for his performance, firstly he had to get roided up for the movie and get in shape, but he delivered in spades of an American soldier thats gone AWOL.

Kinda liked it as well because they sang the Crows Theme Song tune, during the movie. :$

Bit far fetched. A high school teacher that hadn't fought MMA for years, runs through and wins a best in the world MMA tournament on the back of so little training camp preparation. What did he have? One tune up fight? Only part time training due to teaching. Not realistic at all.

You can apply that logic to almost every movie you see today.

Does anyone think that the big guy in the tournament from Russia I think, looks like Buddy?
