The WA Police have stated the car Cousins was in was stopped because of "erratic driving".

No reason however has been offered for why the car Chick was in was pulled over.

The "erratic driving" excuse appears now to be merely a cover story for a bungled attempt at a sting operation involving a frenetic 2 hr car search desperately trying to find something to hang the man with.

WAPS and more specifically the Organised Crime Squad - hang your heads in shame if you have lied to the public. Oh & you might want to use your seatbelts next time boys. Not a good example to the general public who pay many thoudands of dollars in fines each year for doing the same thing.

Who cares?

Who is to say that the police pulled Chick over in the first place?

If you are following a friends car, and the police pulled your friend over for speeding , or erratic driving - wouldn't you pull over to assist your friend and see if they're OK? and also to see if they need a lift (should the car be taken away)?

You are making too many assumptions to be claiming the police are the ones at fault. It's ridiculous to think you're defending Ben (a criminal) against the police (the enforcers) - just because you stupidly think Ben's some form of cult hero. Please.
He is a cult hero.
Whether that is positive or negative remains to be seen.

The Sunday Herald Sun understands Cousins and former West Coast Eagle Daniel Chick were caught up in an expansive undercover sting when he was arrested on Tuesday.
It is believed to have included round-the-clock surveillance and mobile phone taps.

Ben Cousins is a criminal is he???

Chick and Cousins were pulled over at separate locations.

Oh for crying out loud, stop trying to defend Cousins. He's been involved in night club shootings, drug dealing etc. Of course the police want to get him!

My friend, you are the one making assumptions. You assume that my merely asking the question as to why Chick's car was pulled over, I must be defending Ben. I'm merely asking a question I haven't seen asked anywhere in all the commentary over this incident.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who can believe WA Police sometimes behave improperly, go overboard or jump the gun, having witnessed it first hand myself on a number of occasions.

:D Source??

Ben's no saint, I'll agree, but I'd love to see your souces pointing to drug-dealing & direct involvement in a club shooting. Ben wasn't at the club and merely receiving a call from someone that was, doesn't constitute involvment.

Tell me... how was he involved in the night club shooting... because the cops said so? I'm farely certain he was at an offical AFL function in Melb as the captain of the club

Drugs, is that good enough reason for you?

or maybe it's to do with the fact that Chick had a passenger in his car that had cocaine, pot, meth, implements and god knows what else on him? and what you reckon they find at the same blokes house? That couldn't be the reason, could it?

use your brain!

I think people get 2 issues very mixed up

One is Cousins as a footballer

One as Cousins as a citizen.

I don't defend Cousins the footballer - he has made his bed and deserved to be sacked. I get the feeling there are a lot of relieved players at the eagles now that he has gone.

However you seem to confuse his disdain for the footy community with his rights as an individual.

Clearly this was a sting - and badly handled. The police have been embarassed by cousins before and tried to nail him. Yet they bungled it again. I love the term - he got off on a technicality - the technicality being of course he didn't have anything illegal on him.

As far as I am aware he doesn't have a criminal record - he has traffic infringements - but not a criminal record - or if he does - it is pretty minor. (Again I am not talking about as a footballer here, just as a citizen)

He wasn't involved in nightclub shootings - he was 3500kms away in Victoria at the time of the shootings - which is a pretty fair alibi. As a citizen he has every right to remain silent should he wish - i don't agree that he should have - but it is your right unless compelled ot give evidence in court.

Again as a citizen - he has never been foudn guilty of drug dealing, never had his day in court to defend any accusations. I am not saying he is an innocent boy - just that as a citizen he deserves the presumption of inncocence

As a footballer on the other hand - he is shot

you have no clue..the passenger in Chicks car was charged with possession (he had cocaine, pot, meth and implement on him) and when they searched his house they found even more goodies. fair enough reason to raid them?

Juddism - Murray was responding to Crankitup who talked about the search of Cousins' car. There are no charges pending relating to drugs in the car Cousins was in. What happened with the other car isn't relevant to Cousins.

Errm .... well no actually. Legal prescription drugs are what was found, did you miss that?

Another idiot.

First its Chicks car that is being discussed and he had illegal drugs in it.
Secondly the Police can stop any car and search it, if they beieve illegal drugs are within.

Now, when you get back to school on Monday ask your legal studies teacher to assist you with your dilemma

No, I was responding to the OP.

Since when did you think you run my life?

Police can pull anybody over at any time just to check their license details.

When I first got to Perth I was pulled over by some detectives and taken in for questioning as a suspected rapist from QLD as I still had QLD plates on my car.

After they worked out they had the wrong bloke they showed me the mug shot of the bloke they were after and if i was a bit fatter in the face I would have been in a bit of trouble.

They were very professional and even dropped me back to my car with another slightly wild ride in the 308 unmarked kingswood.

A couple of weeks later I was showing my Mum around Perth and was stopped again.

I said "Crikey, you blokes arn't going to take me in for being a rapist from QLD again , are you?

Look I even have my Mum in the car. "

The Copper was a bit taken aback , but just asked me if I had already been interviewed.

Having nothing to hide , I found it impressive how on the ball they were , looking for baddies.

Just back on Cousins' car for a minute. Who else finds it unusual that the traces of ecstacy and cocaine found on the $20 note were not considered sufficient grounds for proceeding with the charges? The $20 note was not in Cuzzy's possession at the time but that hardly counts as an excuse, does it? Would it have been different if he was the only one in the car? Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere. :thumbsu:
