Was Fabio Smith a good pickup for the cats??

You just can't rely on this guy to be the main man on the big stage when you also play 2 taggers.

His trademark move is to get the ball and bomb it long to nobody and it was all on show yesterday. Harris Andrews was probably thanking him for all the easy possession yesterday when he had a little hissy fit.

He is bad for team culture. There is no I in TEAM but there is a ME and that is what this guy is all about.

Geelong can squarely blame this loss on the back of this guy and their recruiting staff.
Almost got Harris Andrews the Norm Smith.

Only time will tell if it'll work out for the Cats long term. I get the feeling Bailey and Geelong will fall out of love pretty quickly. It's all roses while Bailey and Geelong had a good year, not sure it'll stay that way when the Cats are ordinary.

He is a very good player when things are on his terms, but he also has limitations and they were on full show yesterday when it counted most.

Of course Bailey Smith is a good pick up for the Cats. Brilliant footballer.

His abuse of women is concerning.

He was poor yesterday but based on output on the field in isolation this year, he was a bargain.

He is a massive ******** though and probably not a great guy to have at the club as far as culture is concerned.

If any club is able to make him mature and prevent his behaviour from offsetting the on-field boost, the Cats are a great choice. Will be interesting to see how he goes next year.

How'd he go from the draft pick that never had a beer to a real risk of having a chad fletcher like off season?

I like him, because he is not a typical AFL media trained shrill.

As for being a role model: I will make it very clear to my kids that footballers are not heros to look up too, they are just really good at football. One you look at it like that, their off field antics becomes less of a distraction (unless they do something unspeakable).

As for being a superstar on the field: He is not there, but he is bloody good and I think I would rather him than not.
Good on you for seemingly being on top of the difficult task of explaining to your kids that people who act like Bailey Smith aren’t role models but also being a parent that openly admits they like someone who acts like that.

Really threading the needle. Hats off to you.

Smith is a really good player. However, he is the icing and not the cake. Thats fine, most of the time Geelong have the cake part covered. You just can’t confuse him for being the cake.

He WILL NOT do what Dangerfield did last week. There’s not enough substance to his game. But when his teammates are being their accountable, tough selves he will get to a lot of contests and gain a LOT of metres.

The lions were good enough to take away his space and force him to make tougher decisions and, frankly, that’s his weakness. He’s not a good ball user by foot when the space is taken away.

I’d take that footballer on my team every day of the week.

Sadly, blind Freddy can see most people don’t like him because he’s an egomaniac with a low IQ but doesn’t have the self awareness to stay in his lane and shut his mouth.

Geelong is a strong club so it’ll be a testament to their footy ops if they can handle the toxicity of a character like that and maintain their sustainable success.

If he spends next year abusing people, on the nose candy and being very good during H&A and not so good in finals does it start to look like you paid overs ?
He didn’t have his best game yesterday (he wasn’t on his Pat Malone) but he was pretty good in the other two finals. If he spends next year abusing people on the nose candy…. Strange comment.

Fair comment. He’s got some growing up to do but for people to say he hasn’t improved Geelong is absurd.

Good player but seems like the type that likes to play low pressure, low contact look at me football.

Cats picked him up and he was good in the season but he went missing and lost his headband to cam rayner when he took a rare venture into the midfield.

is this guy actually any good?. Seems like a bit of a cheap ball show pony. Not sure hes worth the $$'s and the home geelong have paid him.
Fabio!!
ROAR!

Going to take a while for people to forget how often he shit himself yesterday.
Twice in the third quarter he heard footsteps and shirked the contest.
Shirked in 2021 too and the Dees slammed on the next 10 goals

Yesterday think he made one successful pass for the entire game

Every other time he went near the ball he made an ass of himself

Dismal, inept performance

I understand being a douchebag but still, who in their right mind would talk smack to the nicest bloke in the league, one of the best backmen, captain of the opposition who are up 10 goals with 5 mins to play IN THE GRAND FINAL.

He's got to have multiple screws loose.
I'm guessing he was responding to a cheeky Andrews sledge

Why did Dillon drive to his house at a time when there were all sorts of off field rumours ?

Its a very easy stone to throw.
Dillon: "Hi Bailey, champ, I need you to come into AFL House for a chat"
Smith: "Wtf cnt wwweeeeeee hhhoooooo..."
Dillon: "Actually on second thoughts I might drive down there 👍"
