It was a scrappy game at times but was it really as bad as the HUN report makes out?

Black was a late withdrawal after succumbing to a virus that kept him out of training on Friday and his absence was critical. It robbed Brisbane of a ball winner and it robbed the contest of class.

There is no sugar coating it, it was one ugly game of football. The Auskick game at halftime was more pleasing to the eye.
There were some great goals, great marks and some genuinely exciting play, I thought. It wasn't the most skillful of games but you sometimes get that even when two top teams are playing. Maybe it just looked better to me because we won, but I think the review is too harsh and belittles a good win.

I thought is was scrappy but as i walked across the ground at the end of the game i noticed in some places the grass was at least 3 inches long and was very wet. On the local radio they said they had the sprinklers on all day.

For all of us from melbourne one day i will explain to you what a sprinkler is

Agree ranger, it wasn't a game marred by excessive stoppages or slow down football, was a good spectacle IMO except for maybe 15 mins total of successive poor skill execution by both sides.

Just another way for the journo's to - as you say - belittle our achievements.

Couldn't watch our game due to being at work but I hope the reporter has to sit through the Carlton v Freo game. We had the TV on and that for a game under the roof was horrid at times, and it may be just me. But it's not too often you see a top match at the Gabba, players always seem to struggle with their footing at that ground.

They said the surface was quite wet before the game on fox footy. Yes it wasn't a fantastic spectacle but I'm not sure it was worthy of being derided as the main talking point of an article.

i was there too and that's my perspective.

great highlights from both sides and of course errors but if you're gunna cricise white for tripping over his shoelaces - mention too that he sprinted 100 meters took a brilliant diving mark and then slotted the goal.

It was a pretty poor spectacle.
:)NOT sure if people here watch a lot of football outside us, but three quarter of games AFL-wide are poor spectacles these days.
What St Kilda and Western Bulldogs dished up about six weeks aago ws pure garabage. Hawthorn and Essendon Friday night was largely ordinary until the final term and our game against the Hawks a few weeks ago was a blight on football.
Last night was acceptable. Reasonable in the sheme of things.
Top sides make just as many mistakes as bottom clubs - they just find a way to make right!!!

How many good games of football do you see in brisbane. The weather conditions make for crap football.
what weather conditions are you referring to? Some of the strange mis-kicks were not ground or weather related just poor execution.

Any game where there are only a couple of goals in it is usually entertaining. Some of the fumbles were probably 'groan' material from commentators point of view but the atmosphere at the ground was fantastic. (especially when we won.
But as someone else said "who cares" the media always have to find something negative to say about the Tigers even when we win.

Entertaining game played by two sides who have no place in the finals.

Ive had many enjoyable hours watching Richmond games like that over the years.

I remember one game where we were winning in what obviously a bottom eight game. We had a Geelong type opponent the next week and towards the end of the game some bloke yelled out BRING ON ******!!!! (cant remember who it was)

Everyone at once pissed themselves laughing. We all knew what we watching but it was good entertainment all the same.
