Since joining the swans he is transformed himself from a fringe player to an absolute superstar and is easily I'm the top 10 in the afl, he was a major reason to the swans taking home the premiership this year. Without discussing superstars who were traded (coz u new what u were going to get with them ie Judd ) has their been a better trade before that has paid off like Kennedy has???

Carlton gave up Simon Minton-Connell, Peter Sartori and Ashley Matthews, and landed Greg Williams

Probably better than the Kennedy trade

Kennedy has gone from depth to the leagues best contested ball winner and clearance player.

After Ablett I can't think of a midfielder I'd rather have so the trade is looking as good as any in recent times.

As much as it was a great trade I'd also credit the player development Sydney have going. Hardly guaranteed Kennedy would have turned out as effective for another team and his game style is just so suited to Sydney's game so very well scouted.

Read the history of a couple of blokes named Carey and Longmire.

Yes we already know it is one of the most catastrophic deals made in the history of the game, and won you 2 premierships while it cost us one.

But that wasn't a trade, so why are you bringing it up?

Egg on face factor enormous. As far as letting go of eventual guns it happens all the time. But doesn't come back to bite that team in the arse in quite the fashion of the Kennedy trade. Add the family lineage into the equation, Kennedy Sr on the ground after the game.

Al Clarkson...tuck in fella

Brad Ottens from Richmond to Geelong who went on to become a 3 time premiership player.

Cameron Mooney the same at Nth. Played in a premiership their but was average at best.
"Average At Best" should be the title of Mooneys biography

Can't fault you on the Ottens call though

When it comes to that bloke 17 other teams don't exist. He's a troll ignore him.

Mooney was a lot better than you're giving him credit for.

I think his performances are very overrated like Dangerfield, especially when you look at his kicking. Still a good player, but would still find it tough to get a run through Hawthorns midfield.

I find that most "name" players are overrated to a degree though. Would absolutely love either of Danger or Kennedy at the Blues.

Love Kennedy but how many years in a row has he performed at this level?
Also no suprise that a player has got better as he gets older and develops.

You got lost on your way to the Bay, Same situation as Mumford, Kennedy was getting games, however was offered more money, Contracts and to slot straight into the middle rather then a rotating on a flank. Told hawthorn he wanted it to further his career, Would of been labeled as pricks to keep him. Turns out he turned into a brilliant footballer as half of hawthorn probably knew he was going to

Honorable Mention: Scott Thompson
Traded to Adelaide from Melbourne for pick 13 (M. Bate.)
Thompson now a dual B+F winner with the Crows and Bate...well...
Thompson wanted to go home though..what Crows fans on here would call a "mummys boy" ;)

Also, pick 13 was good for Thompson at the time considering he was leaving anyway. Melbourne stuff up all their high draft picks so this is hardly a miss.
