Not in the know but thought Injury was the only thing that held young back last year. I bumped into him while he was waiting to have some scans done soon after the prelim, I don't like hassling players when you see them on the street but couldn't help but wish him all the best for 2015.

Having Young fit and firing just gives us more chances of throwing Robbie forward for a 4 goal cameo Allah Freo last year.

What.. Youngy better than Wines this year? Troll account surely.

27 and 2 goals vs Freo
29 vs Syd
6 tackles in both those games.
15 and 9 tackles vs NM before injury.

youngy can't be dropped, even when all are fit. i wouldn't say we've unearthed a gun player here, because he's been on the cusp for a while now, but i think he's been threatening to do this since probably his finals series in '13, he's just needed an extended run playing full games. i love the way he's always got a goal in him as well, knows where the sticks are.

To use an old fashioned footy idea, he should basically be changing with Gray when Gray needs a rest in the forwardline.

Teams are going to figure out that to stop Port, you flood like there's no tomorrow. You have to work pretty hard to do it, and it makes our slingshot counterattack more important, but teams are going to be getting numbers back against us at every opportunity.

Young is the perfect forward to have in that situation. His strength is winning the ball and dishing a handball while under huge pressure

Don't think Young is the kind of player who will have a 'breakout game' with 30+ possessions, a couple of goals and a BOG credibility, but if he continues to perform at the level he has been this could turn out to be his breakout year where he solidifies himself in the best 22, as Hombsch did last year.

Champ - have to respect his commitment to keep improving and fight his way into the side.

I hope he stays injury free and in the side for the bulk of the season.

I'm of the same opinion, but I'd have Wingard changing with Gray because they are eerily similar in terms of being elusive clearance winning machines. You put Young in there instead of Gray and you're changing the dynamic of the team structure - which is ok if we need to change things up, but we're assuming everything is clockwork.

The guy I'd be rotating with Young in the forward line is Wines. When Ollie is in the midfield we don't really need Young in there with Gray/Wingard and Boak as well, but he's pretty dangerous up forward. When Ollie needs a rest, place him up forward where he's more than capable of doing exactly the same role as Young as a forward, as we've seen with that nice snap against Fremantle in the semifinal.

I have some serious love for Aaron Young especially after his injections of quality in the games this season. He and Wingard are the fresh spark our midfield needed, we know we'll always face trials and tribulations in the season eg. no Wines and Gray but that is the perfect opportunity for youngsters to get important roles in important games and picking up wins only enforces you're doing something right. Young wants to hit the scoreboard too which is a great thing in the forward 50 stoppages, just has to tune his defensive side, which he will with game time. Can't wait to see him against the Crows.

La lakers. Oakland Raiders, bunny’s
needs to stop that kicking the ball across the body when he could run straight, saying that he has added real spark and is great around clearances.

will be even more of a asset when Wines and Grey both play.

Would like to bump by "Where is Aaron Young at?" thread from a couple of years back.

But I can't find it.

I've always thought that Young does everything very well, he is like the Phil Smyth of football - proficient at everything.

One thing that has surprised me is his strength and love of the hard ball.

I would agree that his game against Hawthorn is his best to date, another good game this weekend should be the making of a genuine AFL footballer.

Was that Aaron Young's break-back-in game?
I just finished watching it, and he lacked urgency and awareness.
Inconsistency can be expected of a player with less than 50 games. I hope to see more of his Hawthorn form from now on...

I think we should cut him a little slack . I actually thought he was good in patches on Sunday but for some reason he wasn't around the ball as much . I still think what he did he did well and can be relied upon as a link in a chain of play .
I'm still confident with him .

On replay, Young's game was fine (as was Monfries'). If he keeps doing the team things and the work rate is there, I doubt he'll be dropped any time soon.

I don't exactly agree with it, but I believe Hinkley will drop Young and not Mitchell when Wines is ready to come back in.
Young is like for like for Wines and Mitchell's hard running often provides an outlet kick and his running patterns regularly open up the game and create space for other players.
Obviously will and should stay in if Polec is out for a bit with his foot.
