A number of concussions can lead to very serious conditions

Breaking someone’s jaw at least leads to someone not eating solids for a month. Perhaps some of our Dr friends could add to this dicussion
A single concussion can lead to lifetime problems. A broken jaw is much less likely to do so. I say this as someone who has had both from footy :)

Eagles fans at the game reportedly cheering Gaff after King hitting Brayshaw.

Strange behaviour from the same mob that booed Adam Goodes for some unknown reason.

They have really weird values those Eagles members.
Yeah the word ‘reportedly’ means you wasted your arthritis prone finger’s time for even bothering to type that crap.

confirmation that no replay was shown at the ground, so anyone not refreshing twitter furiously on their phone wouldnt have known the severity of what Gaff did, hence the crowd cheering him when he came to the bench after clearly being targeted.

Any of bigfooty willing to admit they got it wrong about the Eagles crowd supporting the punch, or is it all pitchforks and baying for blood still?

I'm not willing to declare that concussion is worse than a broken jaw because I am not an expert in this area.

I am prepared to challenge the thousands of apparent experts on BigFooty who are adamant that a broken jaw is much worse...

Galbally didn't actually say anything.

"If he did that on the street he could get jail time "..

"I can't completely rule out the possibility of the police bringing charges"

"it's very unlikely to happen"

Thanks David. Really added something...
oh have mercy 15!

allow them to retreat gracefully!

spare the QCs some remnant dignity!

I admit I wrongly cheered Gaff at the game, not knowing what he’d done. (Along with everyone else)

I'm not saying this is just an Eagles thing, any sides supporters in the heat of the match always turns one eye, but if it was the other way around, Gaff being helped off the ground with blood coming from his mouth, I'm pretty sure the eagles fans would have noticed.

Anyway it’s again f**king mindless to say “oh he didn’t get concussed” because he could very easily have been concussed from this action anyway
Yes, and plenty of other players could've very easily ended up with a broken jaw from other incidents.

If you punch someone and they get a broken jaw it's not OK.
If you punch someone and they get concussed it's not OK.
If you punch someone and they don't get a broken jaw or concussed it's not OK.

I wonder if that will sink in...

Under the common law, before it was codified, both unconsciousness and broken bones were commonly considered serious injuries for the purpose of intentionally cause serious injuries

They’re both bad. Why is that rocket science for some

I think it's entirely reasonable to assume that people at the ground didn't see the hit - Cearly the umpire and the players didn't see it initially either

The whole culture of hysteria and trying to one up each other on outrage is pretty over the top

I remember when Jay Schulz copped a really bad finger in the eye in a Showdown and dropped to the ground, but the Crows supporters thought he took a dive (because at first glance that's what it looked like) Port posters still go on about 'scum bag Crows booing an injured player' even though it was entirely reasonable to assume that noone realise the severity of the eye injury at the time

Just like I'm sure Freo posters will hang onto WC cheering Gaff as some kind of proof that they are scum too

Most Eagles posters have said the hit was crude and he will cop what's coming to him

stop being so hysterical about everything

I was arguing against one of your mob saying a broken jaw wasn’t as bad. Think we are arguing the same thing Scotland

Right. So no-one noticed the Freo player laying on the ground, being helped by trainers?
