Missed it, my bad.Brereton was a great player, a truly great player, but I will never consider him a Pie.Seeing Derm on the Front Bar last night brought back some fun memories.
The Tip Top and banana ads, his antics on the ground......
I was 14 when Derm came to the club at the start of 95 and had always been a fan. Would have been awesome to have him from the start.
I knew Derm was a rabbid Pie supporter as a kid and have always loved seeing players play for the clubs they grew up barracking for, not just Pie supporters, much like the father son rule.
Derm was good for us too. Not only did he kick 30 in 15 games he helped a young Sav have his best year in the AFL. The one thing Sav really lacked was a touch of mongrel.
Mongrel was something Derm definitely wasn't lacking in.
But in reality Derm was washed up by the time he got to the Pies, and who knows what we would have picked up with the number 10 selection?
So what other players do you think where washed up by the time they landed at the Pies, or wished we'd picked up a year or two earlier?
Would also like to hear a few more stories about Derm with the Pies. Be they good, bad or just plain ugly.![]()

It's great he got a few games for his childhood club though, I don't begrudge him that.

Thats why i said arguably, he was much better at Richmond, probably one of the top 10 players in the league but when he got to us and then to Brisbane he was not quite as good. He was a student teacher at our school when i was in about year 9, you should have seen all the girls fawn over him! it was like the pied piper!
Probably had the “no dickhead policy” in forceShould have targeted Paul Roos instead.
We targetted both. Pert was the one we are able to get.Should have targeted Paul Roos instead.
May want to work on tone. How is that ironic? I'm not bagging out all fat people, just the paid professional ones where it's a requirement of their job to be fit.
Absolute tripe. Of the 10 games he played in 2017, 2 of them he couldn't even make it to quarter time and was more detrimental than helpful, of the other 8 only one of them was a genuinely good/great game. So who were his 8 games better than that played a full season? About the only bloke he had a better season was Chris Mayne.
What a surprise, fans don't embrace a 600k mercenary who couldn't even be bothered to rock up to the club in shape and has since mashed together the most underwhelming 14 games in recent history.
Yeah, but he doesn't play. And when he does, he is unfit and usually ends up injured. Only thing he makes us is 600k a year worse off.
Yeah his abs are a bit flabby.May want to work on tone.
Real men don't go out with a six pack, they take a slab.Yeah his abs are a bit flabby.
What about Nathan Buckley? /s
