They flank you if you get caught. They are ridiculously forgiving in regards to getting spotted most of the time. I can stand in one spot pop up and shot two guards right in front of the third where he sees me pop up and he doesn't bat an eyelid.

Metal Gear Solid 2 had better AI and that was 13 years ago.

The plot is bad. Even Far Cry 3 did a better job of immersing you into its world and that was hammered for its story. At least it had a few charismatic characters.

Don't get me wrong I still enjoy the game, but it has a lot of things that can get belted into shape for the inevitable sequel.
Didn't know that Far Cry 3 got hammered for it's story. It was great while Vaas was alive.

Well of course, they can't flank you if they don't see you. But fair enough if that's your experience, can't say the the pop up blind spot thing you describe has ever happened to me - seem to get spotted regularly when I come out of cover at the wrong time. They also spot bodies and move to search the area. Just off the top of my head I'd say Wolfenstein, Assassins Creed and Dishonoured are all far worse if we're talking bad AI in recent games.

I'd say the plot is bland (as is the protagonist) rather than flat out bad. But yeah sorry guess I'm just being picky, I agree with you really - still enjoying it despite some flaws. Luckily gameplay is king, I liked Far Cry 3 and I like Watch Dogs.

Why they killed Vaas halfway through is one of gamings great mysteries, best villain in years, criminally underutilised in FC3.

From memory I think it got criticism for perceived racism and the whole 'white guy comes to tropical island and is instantly better native warrior than the island's native warriors, saves everyone' storyline.

I didn't care about that stuff, its a videogame after all, but the horribly unlikeable protagonist and his cast of douchebag friends didn't help.

I thought his douchey friends lended more to the main characters being kind of inbetween helping his friends and being part of the island thing, and added to the ending where you pick between saving your friends or staying. I also found the main character was more of a blank that you could kind of create yourself

Didn't know that Far Cry 3 got hammered for it's story. It was great while Vaas was alive.

A lot of people didn't like the protagonist and thought that the story was jarring. Whereas I on the otherhand completely dug the tale of one mad descending into madness once among the elements. Not perfect but I enjoyed Far Cry's story.

I haven't played Dishonoured or AC since ACIII. But I definitely think the AI is pretty dumb. I was lobbing grenades onto them and they barely move to get out of the way. The pop up trick works, it is highly effective actually.

I'd agree with you that the plot is bland. But for me bland is bad, the cut scenes are basically an excuse to tune out.

Finished the story this morning.

Decent game, will probably mess around with some of the side stuff for Trophies, but can't see myself pushing for the Platinum.

I also need to test out the online mode in full.

Key to online hacking (being hacked):
1) Use cameras whenever possible
2) Fire a gun to make AI flee
3) Try not to panic
4) Stop and listen for footsteps and especially cars being driven
5) Rocket launcher on standby for when they attempt to flee

;)

As I've recently discovered, platinum is all but impossible thanks to the Social Lubricant trophy - beat level 10 of all 3 drinking mini games - seriously, ****. that.

I have a bug that wont let me kill people when they hack me so i can never win online ffs, just had one guy hiding behind a car, i found him with cameras then got behind him and shot him untill my amo was dry and time ran out, wtf. Now just had a guy that was hiding in a car and pumped the car full of grenades from my grenade launcher and it wouldnt explode ffs, then changed to an smg and emptied a clip for the time to expire once again lol.

I really enjoyed it - certainly much more than I thought I would. The game had solid mechanics that made most of the segments fairly fun.

I would have preferred a little more variety on the mission front - that's what separates the likes of GTAV from other open world games - but there is plenty of potential in a sequel. Hopefully WD2 will be to WD what AC2 was to the original AC.

Im about 15 hours in.

The hacking mechanic I like, but its basic.

The city is functional.

The characters are forgettable.

General gameplay is ok.

Clearly the devs knew the game struggles to hold its own weight; thata's why they've got all these little side diversion games which can hold your interest for about 30 seconds.

The poster who made the comparison to AC1 is spot on.

Just finished the story, thought it was decent tbh. Really enjoyed the game as a whole and im definitely in for the inevitable sequel.

2 more trophies to go until platinum and I'll probably never get them :( Need 3 more songs with the song sneak app and that god damn ****ing drinking game.... cant believe it's only worth a bronze.

Will attempt to get them but also keen to start Wolfenstein so i dont see it lasting long.

Will get back to this game now I think after taking UFC back and finally getting around to getting the platinum for the Lego Movie. Wolfenstein still unopened...Think I only have 6 missions left to do.

Saw you were playing lego movie last night. What's it like?

Smashed out a few more missions last night, went and did the 5 online tailing missions for the silenced Vector. The combat is a million times better with it.

I enjoyed it. First Lego game I've played and was quite surprised. If you liked the movie I think you'd like the game.

I love the Lego games too. Pirates of the Carribean and the Batman ones are ace. I did like the movie too, so I'll give it a look

Yeah its a joke.. had a quick look on playstationtrophies the other day, there's a 70 odd page thread on it.

I thought this was rubbish, but its really grown on me. It's still very much a previous gen open worlder, but the ability to control things via hacking is damn fun. The gameplay mechanics are good enough to cover up the average story and repetitive tasks. I dont think Ive used a cover system that works so well.

Hopefully the sequel will be PS4/XB1 only so they can really take it to the next level.

Yeh it feels like a 360/ps3 game, nothing about it seems next gen which is disappointing.

But having finishing it yesterday I really enjoyed it, thought the storyline was solid and the gameplay was enjoyable, also just roaming the city of Chicago is fun.

7.5/10 for me, hopefully the sequel (if there is one) is truly a next gen title and plays like one.
