Hocking's was a sling tackle. Nathan Lovett-Murray hit Kerr with something that resembled a spear tackle on the first replay, but the highlights package for the game has a different camera angle and it looks much more benign.

Video review won't be announced for another couple of hours. There was no match day report on Hocking.

Ok lets put it another way.

Which tackle/bump would you objectively consider the most deliberate and the most likely to cause injury?

I would argue it wouldnt be the bump from Waters.

One player was going for the ball the whole time and the other wasnt the whole time, means the player that pulls out of a legitimate attempt at either 1 winning the ball or 2 tackling the gatherer has the obligation to NOT make head high contact.
If he wasnt so weak and went low aswell then he would have been fine

You honestly expected to get away with that snipe, did you?

Sounds to me like someone doesn't know what they're talking about.

I was going to try and be reasonable in response to this but your a w***er.

Try the Essendon board.

I know, I've seen it. Some of them saying they'll be furious if he doesn't go for that. I guess they need to feel some sort of victory from the match.
Oh well, they've got some of the Melbourne media banging their red and black drum, writing about the crowd booing Jobe(which didn't even happen, lulz) They're pathetic.:o

Stop embarrassing yourself. The incident didn't actually happen in slow motion, you know that don't you?
Perhaps you should head back to the 'Umpires defeated Essendon' thread on your board and discuss how many goals the umps cost you.

Three players offered suspensions and 2 reprimands - no details yet

Other than Waters I can think of Davey, Hocking, Sylvia who 'might' get weeks

But all in all - it's not looking good for Beau

I saw that tweet too. I reckon Hocking could be in some strife...

I never blame the umpires, the umpires very rarely will change the end result of a long match.
I am impartial when it comes to decisions eg to the Lloyd hit on sewell, thought it was a low blow. Just call it as i see it, and slow motion:confused:, he had the choice from the beginning of the play on the ball

What, as I say to my U11 team, to stand aside and say there you go sir, take it and be on your way?

whats ******ed about this is that the MRP will most likely throw the book at waters for protecting his own head, and they will do it under the banner of "protecting the head"

in what could have been a sickening clash of heads with two players going hard for the ball, waters had the wherewithall to protect himself and in doing so hit the head of watson. watson had the same inclination and mostly got out of the way, but couldnt quite get out in time

in this case, protecting your own head is a reportable offence in the AFL

whats annoying about this is that watson himself contributed just as much to the contact as beau did. he effectively spun out and left his jaw in the way of beaus shoulder. it was accidental contact, contributed equally by both parties.

if the MRP werent restricted in its behaviour and had a common sense clause they would say "both parties equally at fault, reasonable circumstances of two players going hard for the ball, no penalty"

tell them to go for the ball or tackle:thumbsu:

Unfortunately, much to my chagrin, they like to stand aside, like a doorman, or butler, and let the other side go on their merry way. :o

They are getting better, I must say. What Waters did was contest the ball, no deliberately hitting a player, in fact, I thought you could put it under the heading of going for the ball. But then again, that might be my bad. :)

I disagree. It looked like more of an accidental collision than a premeditated bump. If Beau hadn't moved his head back on instinct, it would have been a clash of heads, which is what it appeared to be at first.

@westcoasteagles
west coast eagles
mrp has come back all clear on waters! Rt @val367: @westcoasteagles do we have any idea on what time the mrp will look at beau's bump?

he's cleared!!!!!!!!!!!

he's cleared!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh dear no, it's going to get messy in here now. :(

Obviously it wasn't my bad when I thought he was contesting the ball then. ;)
