After last weekends game V the eagles I had my usual chat to my mate who follows the bulldogs.

I remember a couple of seasons back they went to AAMI and got destroyed by the Crows. My mate descirbed it as watershed game because after that 5 plauers who played for them never played again and they have gone upward since then.

I think last week was our watershed game IMO. I saw something in McGuane, Polak, JON and Hughes tha told me they will be regular good contributors. this with the Krak, and Tivs deletion and the retirement of Gas makes me think that was our watershed game.

Maybe its more hope than realism but I have been around for a long time having watched this team week in and week out for 30 odd years and I have not had this type of feeling since the wars with the pies in the early 80's - tha time it was a watershed but the wrong way.

well there are still 2 more changes I'd love to see before todays game.

In:Connors, Casserley
Out:Johnson, Pettifer

I reckon having youth around him, Pettifer might surprise a few today. Pretty proud sort of bloke and i reckon would thrive on being one of the senior heads, maybe being optimistic but i think he's important, just needs a solid week of tackle practice, if he hated his opponents as much as he hates himself for missing a goal he'd be a ferocious tackler.

ya can't get rid of Pettifer, he's been too reliable
Offensively he may chip with a 2 goal game but when was the last time you saw him lay a tackle (as opposed to those half-assed bumps he tries on his way to a contest).

Also being reliable over one season doesn't get you a regular spot should you lose form. Paddy Bowden got the chop and it's only a matter of time before Pettifer does unless he picks up his game.

Hopefully seeing that other older guys are expendable will be the kick in the arse Pettifer needs to get back to the form he showed last year.
