I just figured it would pass some time and keep the boys busy till the preseason started .
Also he isn't a bad coach and he was given the ruff end of the pineapple by St Kilda .
For all the things said about him he has had success coaching at WAFL level and is a good game day coach IMHO.

The signing of Lyon,Pearce and Sylvia testify to the fact that our current management regime does Black Ops very well.Details of the secret Lyon/Harvey manoeuverings would be known to a small handful of people and so to be declaring it was done in the only way it could have been seems an exaggeration.Similarly repeating the claim as though it is undisputed historical fact does not make it any more true and the idea that our club's reputation has been enhanced by the perfect execution of the coup is debatable.
Lyon replacing Harvey has been a positive for the club but the only 'conflict of interest' that affected the way things were done as far as I recollect Seppo is that Lyon's management group were not informed of negotiations because they were discussing his contract extension with St Kilda and also managed Mark Harvey.
I have no axe to grind on this subject and am simply saying it is not all simply cut and dried and beyond doubt.I tend to agree with PurpleGreenRed and Reginald Perrin that it was a bit shabby in certain areas.

Whilst I am not privy to every single aspect of the Lyon/Harvey takeover coup, without doubt it was the greatest ever result for the Freo footy club and a ruthlessly executed operation.
I am prepared to overlook the tiny little bugs that everyone seems to dwell on and treat it as the best and most influential decision ever made for Freo.
Sadly a fairly decent sort of guy (Harvey) was the victim, but AFL and business in general can be ruthless at times.

I agree the result was outstanding and it appears the end justifies the means but if Ross' legacy is the one GF we've just had and he doesn't get us there (heaven forbid) again then he's got to know that the board are as likely to be ruthless again when the next up and coming coach becomes available in a few years. The methodology utilised in "The coup" wouldn't foster trust in my opinion but as long as Freo keep winning....

As for Fremantles behaviour during the whole episode while it was wildly applauded throughout the AFL community due to shock and awe tactics used I wouldn't imagine our clubs reputation would be untarnished should it happen again.
