What would be a suitable trade though??

Possible Players to trade would be:
Ward
Smith
Armstrong

and picks

most probably would be Armstrong and Smith for Watts

I really don't think we have the right sort of players or picks for a deal for Watts...but then when I think about it...what has he really done?? He has played one good game in the SANFL. So maybe we could get a deal done, Adelaide IMO will get a lot for an unproven player

I would love to have him though.

well motlop has already said that he is moving back to the northern territory because i think he wants to get closer to his family. so i think that rules him out. brisbane or sydney looking for his services.

Would be a big risk considering what we may have to give up to get him.

Would rather Whitnall or Motlop personally.

Why Whitnall?
When was the last great season he had? He just can't get his body right for AFL footy and he's too expensive, both to get from the blues and salary.

Would be a star at a decent club.

Exactly.

I don't think Watts would be high on our priority list, especially with a few young talls on the list already. We need a ready made player rather than another developmental one.

Watts would be ready for AFL action next year with another solid pre season under his belt. He's not injury prone and has held down CHF in the SANFL for the second side (Woodville / West Torrens). From what I've seen (which is a reasonable amount) he'll be a good player, you'd be silly not to make a play for him. What you'd have to give up is debatable, but there should be enough competition for his signature to ensure we're reasonably well compensated.

He's actually played a number of solid SANFL games this year (without being outstanding) but has just missed out on getting a game ahead of the likes of Rutten, Bock, Hentschell, McGregor, Welsh and Perrie.

Good luck if you have a crack at him.

Thanks for the insight - I guess my reasoning behind my last post was that we have alot of younger players already, and the priority would be a Lance Whitnall type player. However, if they were not available for whatever reason, then I wouldn't say no to having him at the club.
