Last year we picked up Jack Watts with our number 1 pick as he was touted as the best available KPP in the draft and potentially the best player in the draft. Watts nominated for the draft as a 17 year old and could have quite easily have waited another year making him available for this years draft. Just wondering what peoples opinions are if Watts was in this year’s draft. Who would we take with pick 1 & 2? If Watts had a bad carnival playing injuried but was so highly rated from the year before, would you take Watts? Or Trengrove who was coming of a MVP carnival?

watts, easily.

The jury is still out on Watts.

I would still have chosen Watts.

What about Watts V Scully?

Are you asking this to try and get some baring on whether we go Trengove or Butcher? I think through this whole process we haven't had enough faith in our recruiters. We bandy around our opininons on limited footage and on what other people say. We overate the carnival because of that is all the majority of us see - but then we say the recruiters only took someone on the strength of their carnival.

I'm perfectly happy with Watts. Scully looks like a gem. Pick 2 will have tremendous talent whoever they are.

Yep, would definitely still have chosen Watts...

Exactly. The mindless crap that's being spouted about Watts over there is ridiculous beyond belief. Hope you all knock them about a bit for it, especially while I'm stuck outside of that board.

Even a lot of fans from other clubs are sick of the repetitive, unfunny and often obscene nonsense coming from certain WCE posters & their hangers-on there.

But for some reason, it almost seems like these characters are a protected species on the Bay at the moment, given the kind of sick stuff they're getting away with at times, and the apparent eagerness of a certain mod to "modify" or otherwise close/relocate some of our threads there when we fire back...

This is the identical scenario to the Gibbs/Selwood draft. Selwood was highly touted the year before that draft, but was struck with injuries during his draft year. That is why he lasted to 7. Gibbs dominated the carnival, and thus went pick 1.

the jury is still out on any kid who has played 3 games of league football

its not round 4. Hes had a year to show us something. Hasn't yet, but I am aware he's a year younger than his fellow recruits and am confident he will be a star.

Or the couple of low-rent Brisbane trolls jumping onto their bandwagon (and sadly a couple of North posters as well, who've seemingly gone from being high-quality contributors to dodgy troll merchants overnight! Thankfully, most North fans aren't like them- some of them are gems in fact)

It's just a tidal wave of nonsense on there at the moment from what I can see... the sad thing is, up until a few weeks/month ago, there was a lot more enjoyable & clever stuff coming from other clubs' supporters on the Bay...

Low-rent WCE types, along with their blind and simple hangers-on from other clubs, seem to be endemic around some parts of BF at the present time. And it always seems to be the same ones too, for the most part.

Be amazed if most of those characters know much about their own club even, let alone ours, to be spewing forth the absurd and vomitous nonsense they've been posting continuously about us and our players.

Most of it just looks like abuse at this point - not even what I could call trolling...

Back onto topic.. I think Watts got a lot more runs on the board with the Larke medal and testing results at draft camp last year than butcher did last year so I think we would almost certainly take Watts.

Atm I am in the Trengove camp, however if we didnt have Watts I would be probably thinking Butcher this year.

Don't overrate Butcher's injury. He played all the games and I'll judge him accordingly.

I'd still take Watts as I believe that he's going to be a once in a generation footballer. The things he can do at 196/7cms is extraordinary. He's the third fastest ever tested over 20 metres at Draft Camp (15 years), he was second to Stephen Hill in the agility test at DC, he won the psycho motor testing which determined decision making and reaction times. When he develops his strength and adjusts to the AFL tempo he'll be a star.

The following is a 2 minute video that most haven't seen.

He's a very different type of forward to Butcher.

Btw, it's Trengove. There's no effing 'R'. Got it ?

This thread has nothing to do with the dribble being posted on Bay13 as I to agree that Watts will be a superstar in a few years time. It was more more simply to point our the over importance that is placed on the Carnival, Injuries to players and all this talk before draft camp results are even out. Also was just hoping for some friendly discussion/debate. Some great footage there Trav, clearly has an amazing football brain and I especially like the goal at 1:09.

this thread is stupid. If Watts were available this year we'd take him at 1 and would be arguing over Scully, Trengove and Butcher at 2

I took this thread as who we could have chosen last year instead of Watts, and then pick him and scully this year? or am i way off?
eg. got nick nat or someone last year and still gotten watts?

wrong. if watts was in this draft would we take him or trengove at 2. assuming scully is the clear number 1.

with the benifit of hindsight i've seen very little in nicnat. He just looks lost, and always in the wrong spots. ziebel or hurley look the goods from the other early picks. yes rich is the rising star but i see limited upside.
