Roast Wayne Carey’s commentary

The fact that Seven gave him a him a job at all is the real problem here.

Everyone thinks of the incident at the party, but it's always worth remembering that pleaded guilty to indecent assault after groping a woman on the street.

Years later when he was in the US, he smashed a wine glass in his girlfriend's face. When the cops came, he kicked a female cop in the mouth and was convicted of assault.

He's a scumbag.

Shows the Media is just a Huge Boys Club

Not only is he the biggest dumb campaigner going around he’s had no media training whatsoever. C7 with him Ling, Richo, Taylor etc really go out to get the least liked ppl available

I believe Richo is earning more money than he ever did during his playing days. He is a likeable guy, but seriously, what does he offer on the boundary?

Its far better to be hated/despised/have others revel in your misfortunes because it shows you have relevance and/or importance to those persons, and it is likely the vitriole is just a facade for the subconscious jealousy and more often than not secret admiration felt towards you. So bring on the hate I say, from anyone and everyone in the media, the rest of the league, the world who gives a rats. Its Us Against Them

god why cant we bring back that club motto, that one is unsurpassed in its superior motivational force and poetic splendour. Its better than Forever. Boring. And forever what, forever we stay the same? Our supporters will be with us forever so we'll just keep screwing them and laugh as we count our cash? Our list managers will forever be recruiting small bodied midfielders and no KPP's?? Too open to conjecture, get rid of the stupid thing

I prefer “Floreat Pica, Bitch!”

I would have concerns the cheer squad would be able to come up with sharp and witty one-liners incorporating that one for the banner each week I think?
Why does it need to be wittily worked into the banner, weekly? :D

Don’t shoot me down here, but I usually like what Carey has to say. In particular his knowledge of individual players seems better than most.

Saying this though, the other night he seemed a bit bias, and it was more about how poor Geelong were, and disregarding of the Pies immense pressure displayed throughout the entire game.

Well because its tradition that's why. Side by Side got a jolly good workout. Forever's had a decent run of it too, but see this is why it worries me

I didn’t watch the telecast so is it at all possible that he was toeing the party line by talking up the contest? Channel 7 have an unhealthy obsession with making matches more “entertaining” by routing for the trailing team. The comments seem to indicate that was the case...

Tip of the iceberg.

Certain callers have an obsessions just to barrack for whoever the opposition is against Collingwood regardless of the scoreboard. Dwayne Russell and Wayne Carey are the worst of a bad lot. Nick Riewoldt on Fox. Huddo is deadpan when we score and on edge when the opposition are doing well.

I don't mind Wayne Carey's commentary though, except when he's calling Collingwood games.

In addition, wasn't Carey briefly employed by Collingwood, not that long after he retired as a player, as some sort of part-time assistant or specialist coach but was suddenly sacked (or officially 'resigned') after only a couple of months under somewhat murky circumstances that were never made public?
So

When Collingwood are playing he is ALWAYS biased . . AGAINST the pies because Buckley thrashed him once and he simply can't let it go.

Flog of the highest order.

No sco party line has nothing to do with it - he simply hates Collingwood because of Buckley and 7 gives him license to indulge his spite.

I mind it - he is a scumbag who cheats with a team mates wife behind his back and he physically abuses women.

The fact that 7 give him air time at all is a huge indictment on their culture and morals.

I'm no Carey fan but I'm listening to Q1 again (a nice way to start the day) and he's done nothing but talk Collingwood up.

The one thing I disagreed with him on was the Cal Brown below the knees free (which was totally warranted!) and then he banged on about it for 5 minutes.

But apart from that thought it was reasonably neutral.

Most neutral Fox commentator I heard all night was Cam Mooney - "Collingwood absolutely smashed Cats and were deserving winners" which was pleasing to hear.

Carey’s commentary, although I haven’t heard it, was probably better than the insights of the tools sitting behind me.

“They’re just like two prizefighters, throwing jabs at one another in turn”.

“They really look like they’re playing for the week off next week, don’t they?”

Guy could be the next Bruce with that tosh.
You just feel like the next goal could be really important.

Mooney was very good considering he is a two time Cats Premiership player.
