I noticed in the Age sport on Saturday that Wayne Carey has left. Anyone know why?
surely we shouldve kept him- we were the highest scoring team this year why would we sack him??? I'm really shocked by it but im thinking it may have something to him being unable to commit full time because of media commitments. Disappointing to lose him this way but i guess he isnt ready for full time coaching role. Who will be forwardline coach now?????

We always rotate the forward coach, got rid of TD after a pretty good season.

The job Carey performed though was not extensive, he missed many match days due to commitments with Fox Footy.

It may've been good to keep him in a part time role with another part time coach for matchday - what is the point on having a forward coach if they are not there for the important part of the week. I guess there could be too much toe stepping though if that was the case.

Collingwood approached him about being full time and he wasnt interested, the pies where paying him a six figure salary to be there 4 times a week for a few hours....not worth it. He didnt do much.

mentioned in 'the age', I think. Blake Caracella big chance. He seemed to have a very good footy brain.

Do you think the players would respect Blake enough? He was not renowned for being the hardest player to play the game. I think the more successful coaches have players who respect them and play for them because they know their coach played that way too eg west coast's coach is a good example.

For those that are interested this is the piece from The Age:

■ Collingwood's Blake Caracella will join the Magpies' coaching panel. Caracella, who was forced into retirement with a fractured vertebra, is likely to fill Wayne Carey's position as forward coach.
As a player who suffered a career-ending injury, AFL rules entitle Caracella to be paid half his 2006 base contract next year — meaning he would receive close to $100,000 regardless of whether he coached.
