Not overly quick but I like him
I'd like Beech if only because he might give us an overhead marking option in the midfield, which none of our current mids really excel at.

One thing I love about Milera with the razzle dazzle is I never get the feeling he's trying to show off while he does it. He just knows he can weave around blokes and gets it to a target.

He's never looking at the bloke in front of him. He's already looking down field at the next option as he knows he'll leave the bloke in front in his dust.

Western Bulldogs, GWS, GCS all have more young talent than us. Hawks, West Coast are still top 4 teams as well.

That's just not true. GWS didn't play anyone under 21 on the weekend and the 21 year olds were closer to 22. We had 3 under 21. GWS also has more mature talent than us.

But the argument sounds good so carry on.

All we need now is to get it into his hands more often now. Going to be inconsistent but his good weeks are already going to play a part in our wins with his ability to get around traffic and hit up our players.

Yep three kicks from him are potentially three goals = we win

We know Western Bulldogs are a building team from last year.

North looks like their usual selves. Strong team but beatable.

Hawks should be top 4.

Sydney should be there too.

I'm calling Bulldogs.

I had Freo as top 4, but not sure what to think about them now.

I had us 6th as an optimistic position preseason. And lower than 8th would be under performing based on last year.

Richmond & Power are becoming parodies of a football team. Promising a lot but falling short too often. *Might make the 8.

To make top 4 is going to be a tough ask. Consistency in performance is going to be the key.

Milera is a significant boost to our side. He's certainly got talent and is starting to impact upon games already. Managing him properly will be key. He's clearly up to AFL level skill and talent wise, just needs to be match hardened.

Not talking about who took the field one week, I'm talking about their list.
If you think we have the same level of talent on our list your kidding yourself.

GWS have lost a bit of talent too, but some haven't come on as expected.

Go through their list. Every good player they lost they got good picks for.
O'Rourke is the outlier, pick 2 and then 2 years later pick 19.

I don't think they have as good a list as they should've had.

What's the point of comparing player 34 to 40? It doesn't matter how quality they are, they are not getting games.

Lists don't win games. It wasn't long ago the argument was made that Collingwood had a great list after the Grundy and Sharenburg draft ..... Then again after their Aish and Adams and Greenwood get. They were going to be awesome because of all that young talent. They have looked like a pile of shit.

Bulldogs have a good side. Played finals last year and has been building.

GWS is building. Will jump into the 8 most likely but not top 4 material at this stage.

Gold Coast in similar spot to GWS except they were injury riddled last year. Should be much improved and be a contender.

But the season is long and some teams fall away others rise.

If this doesn't get you going as a Crows fan, nothing will.

I'd love to see any vision of forward line movement leading up to that. It's mind boggling they gave up that leading avenue to Tex. You almost marked that goal down when it was half way to Tex.

We played Eddie further up the ground in round 1 - wasn't as effective as we probably needed as we lost alot i50.

However, to manage Wayne's workload we might need to dump him closer to goal for half a quarter at times. Not sure that's possible in today's footy but I'd prefer that to haveing to rest him due to 'general soreness'.

Can anyone remember how we managed smithers in his first season?

Played 11 games in his first season. So round 1 and then out the following week. Back in round three for a run of eight games. Out for 6 games and returned to finish off the season in the team for a run of 5 games.

The next year he only missed 4 games.

Smith had high TOG relatively in a few games. Later on he was sub on 4 occasions.

Milera had low 70%ish TOG in his 1st 2, then 77% vs Richmond.

Thanks - it was my first port of call to look when i had time later.
Does anyone have more detail on why he was left out? Injured, or just rested. Can we look for his sanfl games that year?
His TOG is interesting. When not sub affected seemed to push around the 80 mark I guess?
Sub probably helped manage him a little -> an option we won't have with Milera.

Surely it's time for a 3 min YouTube clip of all his nab cup games and first 3 rounds.

C'mon people. Surely one of you are capable.
