Not an amazing year for him. But hardly the worst problem.

I think his forward skills have been both underutilised and underappreciated though.
 
I like Milera but when he is in the midfield as soon as the other team gets the ball it’s like we are playing one down. Defensive pressure is nonexistent.

Can’t play defence because he can’t defend, has no idea where his man is.

Absolutely must play as a pure wingman. Baffling he hasn’t been settled in that position all year. Perfectly suited for it.

Happy to slag off at selections, and the old guys, MacKay etc....

But putting all that aside, Milera has been one of the biggest disappointments player-wise this year.
He has played enough games to try to make an impact. Get more involved. Give more run. Get some attitude chump and want to dominate.
Two years of no progression, which is where other teams have overlapped us with young 21/22 yo's having impacts in matches.
He needs a rocket or new attitude this pre-season and use the talent he has.
 
He has been shuffled around and is playing injured but yes he has had a poor season after looking like he was ready to completely breakout after his purple patch last season . 2020 will be very telling . Rate his talent highly , i think we need to just stick him on the wing and see what he has got when fully fit
 
He started the season off well (the first month) before getting injured. Upon returning he's been pretty average which has been disappointing. Need to find a role for him and keep him in it as I'm sure it's not really helping with us changing where we play him so often.
 
Like most of the players this ridiculous slow confusing short safe ball movement, sideways chip kicking, over possessing football has Milera confused, our players look up to go forward and with our forwards playing so high up the ground there is rarely a long option available.....half the reason we are down on inside 50's this year is there's often nobody inside 50 to kick the ****ing ball to. The gameplan is a complete abomination, it's more down to the gameplan the players are being asked to execute than the individual players IMO.

Should spend the summer watching tape of Brad Hill. Has all the traits, does he have the endurance? The classic wingman has come back in a big way this year, I see that as a perfect fit for his game.
 
I think he has plenty of talent, but is a poor decision maker. I think next year we have to finally settle on his position and give him very simple and clear instructions on his role.

Just looks lost.

Spot on. So obvious at the game today when he took ridiculous short options and muffed up most of them.

Looks uninspired and somewhat lazy out there.

Solution is to give him a challenge and ask him to step up to being our starting mid and be a point of difference.

Has lost all confidence, like most of the side. Last year showed his true talent across half back and looked to be settling nicely. It was clear as day he needed to be left off half back this year to consolidate. What do we do? Suddenly Smith returns and we need to find spots for Mackay (entire season) and Gibbs (early) and Milera is forced back to half forward, full forward, occasionally midfield.

That's okay though, we've managed to destroy the confidence of a highly talented young player whilst eeking out another mediochre season from Mackay whilst likely missing finals. Good on us!!!

He won the time trials didn’t he. Only 2 ks I guess. I thought they were some indication of fitness.
 
He hasn't had a good year, people went over board on the back of the Gold Coast game. I still think he will be a player but at the moment you can't back him to win a contest.

This is the thing that really shits me. We have been crying for decent outside Midfielders but Jnr and Smith get thrown around everywhere else But Wing. 2 Guys who can actually use the ball. Would also like to see Jonesy and Gooch going through wing as well.
